This evening, just after half past eight, I received a rather dubious call from a woman named Anna, who claimed to represent Hotmail's cybersecurity division. She asserted that someone had contacted them under the guise of being me, requesting a password change. Apparently, she informed me that my account was implicated in sending out a staggering 91 illicit and troubling emails, complete with illegal imagery, and that my password had allegedly been altered twice already. Anna insisted that I log into my Hotmail account while she arranged to forward me a related email. However, having encountered numerous tales of such scams, I politely declined her request. She provided me with the phone number 0207 096 8475, instructing me to return her call immediately. I’m keen to know if this is genuine and whether I should indeed be worried about my account's security.

Received a call claiming to be from Hotmail support, inquiring about whether I had altered my password. I haven't returned the call.

I had a rather perplexing experience with a foreign woman on the phone earlier. She was nattering away in such a thick accent that I could barely catch what she was on about, but she seemed to be asking if I was familiar with something she called 'coopfers'-at least, that's how it sounded to my ears. She then went on about how my computer was at risk of being hacked or some such nonsense. I was having none of it, so I told her to shove off and hung up. Of course, the saga didn’t end there. She rang me back and I reiterated my desire for her to leave me be. To my dismay, she continued to ring me-about six times in total. Eventually, I caved and answered her call, but instead of engaging, I just placed the phone down on the table, hoping she’d get bored and hang up. Eventually, she did, but what a right kerfuffle it was!
