Similar experience here, it was a northern lady's voice saying I’d had an accident. Best thing is to say nothing and just block the caller.

Calamity Claims rang me yesterday about an accident I’m supposed to have been in. Had a bit of time to spare, so I gave them the runaround till they got bored with repeating themselves and just dropped the call. Give me a ring and I’ll gladly waste your precious time, you lot of scammers!!!

Got a call from Calamity Claims Limited, which apparently is dissolved according to Companies House. The person claimed I was in a Road Traffic Accident that wasn’t my fault. I asked how they got my details, but the woman insisted I had to admit I’d been in an accident before she could share anything, citing data protection (!!!). When I asked again where exactly she had my info from, she just cut off the call.

I've signed up with the Telephone Preference Service, yet when I raised an issue, they explained that they can't pinpoint who’s calling based solely on the number. They depend on the information given by people like us to figure out which company is behind the call. And even then, if the name turns out to be made-up, there’s not much they can do. If the law were tightened on this sort of thing, surely the police would be able to track down the source of the calls...

How on earth did they acquire this number?! I've just got a new SIM card and recently filled out an online form for car insurance using the email linked to the SIM. It's utterly unsettling, especially since I mentioned having made a claim on my old insurance policy. They're just a bunch of ambulance chasers, aren't they? It seems they've got everything running on autopilot these days, with no real human involved at the start of the conversation. I noticed that if you don’t say a word, it doesn’t bog their system down for longer than a half minute. I reckon we should find a way to get more folks on the line to connect with the actual operators and really make them spend their time on us directly.

I've been on the Telephone Preference Service for ages, yet I’ve still been bombarded with calls on my home phone, leaving me meaningless messages for months on end. I decided to set up Sky Guard, which did give me a bit of peace initially, but lo and behold, they’ve now started ringing all four of my phone contracts, including three belonging to my teenage kids! After a bit of digging into the number, it turns out it's one of those daft “you’ve had an accident” callers. Just another relentless cold-calling company! Honestly, I've not been in any accidents, and it feels like there should be legislation to put a stop to this nonsense!
