Potential scam alert: I received a call from 020 7043 0017 at 2 PM on 19th January 2018, and it felt like I was speaking to someone in India. The caller claimed to represent British Telecom, insisting that there was an issue with my router and that I needed to perform a scan on my computer. They urged me to press the Control and Windows keys on my keyboard, which bewildered me as I use a Mac. They then asked me to launch the Safari browser and visit https://www.teamviewer.com/. I was switched over to someone who purported to be an expert, urging me to download the free version of TeamViewer for personal use. However, I chose not to install anything and kept them on the line for a couple of minutes longer. Eventually, they handed me off to another individual who tried to assist me further. After about another minute, I decided to terminate the call and blocked the number. Just a heads-up, British Telecom would never reach out to you like this out of the blue.
