Someone called saying I’d been in a car crash. When I asked to be removed from their list and to stop ringing me, she just ended the call straight away. Number’s now blocked.

Definitely an accident scam. I’m on the telephone preference service too and I try to keep my mobile number pretty private. The caller sounded like some kind of automated bot, not a real person at all.

The person on the line said who they were and said they wanted to discuss a crash I supposedly had in the past 5 years that wasn’t my fault. I asked what name was linked to their number. They just asked me the question again so I repeated mine back. Then the caller snapped, “can you just tell me if you had an accident or not?” That’s when I ended the call and put their number on block.
