Some bloke rang saying he was from Eon. I nicely told him I didn't want any unwanted calls and, citing the new GDPR rules, asked him to remove my number from their list. He got pretty cheeky and said he'd keep ringing me nonstop no matter what! I'm wondering how GDPR is supposed to protect us in situations like this? I used my BT call blocker to block his number, but I'm sure they've got loads of other numbers ready to call from. Such a pain!

Got a call this evening, about 5:45pm, from a man with an Asian accent claiming my Eon contract had ended. I said I didn’t believe him, and he insisted it was true. I’ve reported him to the police now. The bloke's name was Shazeb Ali, sounded Indian and said he was based in Manchester. Asked him for some proper contact details but he just cut me off and hung up.

Right away, I clocked it wasn’t legit since the renewal date they mentioned was totally off. They were quite pushy and it took a lot of effort to get them to stop - I pretty much had to just hang up.
