Got a call on 020538722556 back on 20th Nov 2020, some woman with an American accent saying she was from Sky offering me a £272 refund. Total scam, I’ve never even had Sky!

Got a call this morning from a number nearly the same, just swapped the last digits (clever try, huh?) 020958756988. The voice sounded like a bloke with a British accent saying something like: 'This is BT calling - we need to tell you your phone and internet might get cut off.' Then he said, 'Press 1 to confirm, press 2 to continue,' or something similar. I didn't press any button! We actually *are* with BT, so I can imagine some folks, especially older or nervous ones, might get duped by this kind of scam, especially in times like these. These dodgy calls really prey on people’s fears!

(0205) 4549119 - got a voicemail from some automated woman saying the 'concerned' might lose their National Insurance number or something. I couldn't find that exact number online, so I freaked out a bit thinking I'd messed up somehow. Turns out these scammers just spoof the 0205 part and fake the rest. From what I saw, 0205 isn't even a legit area code!

Most of these numbers start with 0205200 and then have a random four digits, which makes me think they're fake numbers made by a computer. Like if you see 7618, it's close to 7617 so if the next ones go 1, 10, or 100 up they can kinda be traced to a spot using radio masts. Honestly, it's better just to not pick up or block them since it's probably not a real person or a legit company calling. BE CAUTIOUS out there!

I just got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC telling me to get a lawyer because apparently I’m being sued for tax evasion. He said my bank accounts would be frozen, my house taken away, and the police would get involved. He tried to make me confess to fraud! When I asked for his name, he hung up right away. He sounded really rude and pushy.

Got a call from 020 520 00335, some robotic voice claiming it was HMRC about fraud. They told me to press 1 to talk to them. Then started threatening that if I didn’t press 1, I’d get arrested because police supposedly have a warrant out for me. Total scam.

0205 200 7889 Called me with a recorded voice saying I’m under investigation for fraud and that I’d be arrested soon. Then got put through to some guy who sounded really uninterested but claimed to work for hmrc and had my file open. He asked for my postcode to “verify” my identity but I didn’t give it, and he just cut the call straight away.

Got a recorded message about an HMRC arrest warrant and to press 1. Ended up speaking to some bloke with a funny accent who wanted my name. I told him he should already know who I am since he called me. He said he had to check my details. Messed about with him for a bit till I got fed up, then told him HMRC wouldn’t act like this and he was clearly a scammer before I hung up. If I get another call like this, I’m gonna say my name is Peter Plod and give them New Scotland Yard’s address.

Today, 19/12/2019 at about 12:23, I got a call from 0205 2000101. The person said they were from HMRC and warned me that if I didn’t press 1, I’d be arrested. I pressed 1 and ended up talking to a call centre with people speaking in strong accents. When I said I hadn’t dialled them but was replying to a dodgy call, the responder just hung up and ended the call.

Got a call from someone saying they were from BT (India) saying my router was faulty and I was gonna get a new one. Then they asked me to get on my computer so they could explain more. Just a heads up, they usually try to get you to do screen sharing which is a way for them to nick your info. I’ve even heard they put wild photos on your PC and then try to blackmail you. Watch out!

Got a call from 02053441735, a woman with a thick Indian accent telling me I was being charged £600 in California on my debit card - which I definitely wasn’t. When I asked her which bank it was supposed to be from, she couldn't give me a straight answer. She just kept saying ‘No, not a bank, just your debit card.’ She dodged all my questions and then ended the call.

02058757597 keeps ringing me up, always using a new number. Got two calls this morning alone, first one came from 01738592195. Had loads yesterday too, like 01738043824. They say they’re calling from BT, saying your internet or landline might get cut off soon, and tell you to press 1 to stop it or 2 to cancel. Don’t press any buttons! Just keep blocking them straight away.
