I picked up the phone and was met with utter quietness - not a soul on the line. Just an eerie hush.

I received a call claiming to be from a firm I’ve bought tools from in the past. The caller mentioned that I was entitled to a substantial discount. It was evident it was an Indian call centre; I could hear the chatter of others in the background. The line was all over the place, cutting in and out, and then, abruptly, the line went dead while he was still speaking.

A chap rang me claiming to be from EE, offering me a rather tempting 20% off my already decent contract. He then had the audacity to ask what my current monthly payment was! I pointed out that surely he should have that info at his fingertips if he was indeed with EE. Then he revealed he was working for a marketing firm instead. I promptly hung up! Ta-ra!

There was an eerie quiet, and then suddenly all the racket from the call centre kicked in. It’s definitely advisable to blacklist this number.
