I’ve gotten calls quite a few times from 02045 162730. Normally if I don’t know the number, I just don’t answer or call them back. This one said something about a market survey and told me to press 1 if I didn’t want any more calls. Since I never agreed to be contacted in the first place, I naturally hit 1 to stop them!

My lad picked up the phone and they kept pushing him to give his full name and where we live. Now he’s convinced he’s done something wrong and won’t say who they claimed to be or what he said to them. Proper dodgy scam. Passed the number onto ActionFraud straight away.

Had a call from someone saying they represented the "Residential Green Standard Centre" and that my loft insulation wasn’t up to scratch anymore. When I tried looking them up, the first results were all American sites. Only after I added "UK" did it direct me to some official GOV.UK page. Made me feel a bit iffy about the whole thing.

Got one of those calls again from a bloke saying he was an "energy advisor for my local post area". When I asked him to be specific about which exact postcode he meant, he was completely clueless. Didn’t even try to answer properly, just muttered something like "Alright then, no worries" and ended the call sharpish. Classic dodgy routine.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from a driveway company. They said they wanted to showcase four homes nearby for promoting their drives. When I said “no thanks,” the bloke just kept pushing his sales spiel, so I ended the call!

Got a call from someone named 'Alex' claiming to be from 'The Medical Alert Centre', saying I’m eligible for a free medical alert pendant. I’m fit as a fiddle, so it seemed off. Looking at other reviews, this 'Alex' seems to be juggling loads of jobs - from driveway work to giving energy tips - which makes me think it’s a scam. Plus, offering these pendants mainly targets elderly or vulnerable folks, which feels really nasty to me.

Energy adviser for your area - how's things today? rang me offering some foam to block the roof, saying my existing insulation now apparently causes issues. He claimed to be from the renewable green standards agency. It sounded rather impressive but smells like just another sales company with a fancy title. The chat was dull so I ended it pretty quickly. Blocking’s pointless as each time they ring it’s a different number, and these calls are getting more regular - the previous one was just a month ago.

So I was scrolling through the notes on this site and as soon as a man with a proper English accent claimed he was from a local energy firm, I just hung up straight away. He started saying I’m the homeowner - didn’t even say my name or anything. I just asked, “Am I?” and then ended the call.

I got a call from someone saying they were an energy adviser named Alex. It seemed a bit dodgy, like it might be a smart recorded message. I’ve received these calls a couple of times now and they start off sounding quite believable. When I ask questions like “Where exactly are you calling from?” or “Is this a government programme or a private company?” Alex pauses for a second and makes this awkward “Uhhh... alright” noise before giving a sort of pre-prepared reply that sounds sort of legit. But if you throw a curveball question, like today I asked “Wait Alex, what was the score for Man U last night?” they just cut the call immediately!

Some bloke called claiming to be from a local energy company. I’m based in Devon but he was ringing from a London number, which ain’t exactly local. He said his name was Alex and kept switching between Bournemouth numbers. Seemed dodgy to me, so I didn’t give out any details. Definitely looked like a scam.

I've seen this happen before and just like others here, the last time it came from a Bournemouth number. I’m also down in Devon, so looks like these scammers are picking on Devon numbers today.

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be John, said he worked for a driveway firm. I had to raise my voice a couple of times just to get a word in, then managed to make him confess it was a pushy sales call. Ended the call straight away. I'm on the do not call list and not in any public directory. Really disappointed with that lot.

My mum got a call from this number saying she could get an SOS alarm watch for £29 a month. They kept pushing her to give her bank info, trying to convince her it wasn’t a scam by saying the bank would refund her if it was! It’s just awful. Luckily, she ended up hanging up, but not quick enough really. She has had a few falls recently and is seeing the doctor, so I get why she didn’t just cut them off straight away.

Had a call late evening, around 7pm GMT here in the UK, from a silent number. My elderly mum is on the ex-directory list, so she really shouldn't be bothered by these scam callers! It’s a tough time for her and the last thing she needs is any hassle from these con artists. Mess with my old folks and you might find yourself dealing with their kids, who don’t exactly sit back and take it quietly. You never know who might be standing just behind them, ready to step in. Believe me, I’m not the type to just say “It’s alright, mum,” I’m the one who says, “Leave it to me, I’ll handle this.” Ex-directory lists? Useless. Those silly little registers don’t stop these creeps. The fact that I’m putting this out here proves I’m legit and fully aware of the number that’s been bugging my parents - 020 4568 8794. These scammers should be made to stop. Rest assured, we’ll deal with it.
