I’ve gotten calls quite a few times from 02045 162730. Normally if I don’t know the number, I just don’t answer or call them back. This one said something about a market survey and told me to press 1 if I didn’t want any more calls. Since I never agreed to be contacted in the first place, I naturally hit 1 to stop them!

I received a call from someone identifying themselves as being with the "Residential Green Standard Centre," insisting that my loft insulation has fallen below acceptable standards. When I searched for them online, it directed me to a website based in the US. But if you add "UK" to the query, it leads you straight to a GOV.UK page. Seems rather dodgy to me!

Got one of those calls again from a bloke saying he was an "energy advisor for my local post area". When I asked him to be specific about which exact postcode he meant, he was completely clueless. Didn’t even try to answer properly, just muttered something like "Alright then, no worries" and ended the call sharpish. Classic dodgy routine.

Got a call from someone named 'Alex' claiming to be from 'The Medical Alert Centre', saying I’m eligible for a free medical alert pendant. I’m fit as a fiddle, so it seemed off. Looking at other reviews, this 'Alex' seems to be juggling loads of jobs - from driveway work to giving energy tips - which makes me think it’s a scam. Plus, offering these pendants mainly targets elderly or vulnerable folks, which feels really nasty to me.

Energy adviser for your area - how's things today? rang me offering some foam to block the roof, saying my existing insulation now apparently causes issues. He claimed to be from the renewable green standards agency. It sounded rather impressive but smells like just another sales company with a fancy title. The chat was dull so I ended it pretty quickly. Blocking’s pointless as each time they ring it’s a different number, and these calls are getting more regular - the previous one was just a month ago.

After scanning through the various comments on this site, I decided to hang up as soon as I heard that unmistakable British accent claiming to represent a nearby energy firm. The chap had the audacity to refer to me as "the homeowner" without even mentioning my name! I couldn’t help but question, “Am I really?” before promptly ending the call! Quite the cheek, isn't it?

I received a call from someone purporting to be an Energy Adviser named Alex. I have a sneaking suspicion it’s just a rather clever automated message. This isn't the first time I've encountered this call; it begins quite convincingly. However, if you try to interject with a question like "Where's your office located?" or "Is this service part of a government initiative or a private organisation?" you’ll notice a slight pause, and ‘Alex’ will respond with a rather rehearsed "Uhhh, … right" before delivering a generic answer that seems tailored to the question. Yet, when I decided to throw in a curveball by asking something random, such as, "Just a moment, Alex, could you tell me the score of the Manchester United match last night?" the call abruptly ended! Quite the dodgy operation, if you ask me!

Some chap named Alex rang me up, and I have to say, it was a load of nonsense. He started prattling on about my loft insulation as if he had some sort of psychic insight. When I queried him on how he had that information, he just brushed it off, acting all smug. It’s as if he thinks he's some kind of clairvoyant. I thought I'd end the conversation there and then. After having to raise my voice a couple of times to get him to stop droning on at me, he finally conceded that it was indeed a 'sales' call. At that point, I promptly ended the conversation. I’m on the ex-directory list and registered with TPS, so this is quite disappointing. What a cheek!

A call came through to my elderly mother from this number, claiming she could get an SOS alarm watch for a mere £29 a month. They persistently requested her bank details, insisting it wasn’t a scam and that her bank would refund her if it were! It’s utterly appalling behaviour. Thankfully, my mother eventually ended the call, although I wish she’d done so sooner. Given that she’s had a few tumbles recently and is in the process of consulting her doctors, I can see why she may have been hesitant to hang up straight away.

Received a mysterious call, and it's rather concerning as my elderly mother is ex-directory. She’s on a list that should ideally spare her from being hounded by lowlifes, particularly given her status! The time is about 7 PM GMT here in the UK. Interfering with the elder generation can be quite perilous, especially in this modern age where technology has its pitfalls. Those who fancy themselves as tormentors of the vulnerable might well find themselves on the receiving end of unexpected consequences, often without even realizing the gravity of the situation! Believe me, I wouldn’t let it slide casually with a “don’t fret, Mum!” Instead, I’m the type who firmly declares, “Leave it to me, Mum and Dad!” Being ex-directory clearly offers no real protection. Those supposed safeguards are laughable. And the little confirmation box suggests I’m genuinely human-fully capable of seeing that 020 4568 8794 is trying to hassle my parents during what should be their peaceful twilight years, free from any scoundrels.
