They phone me every single day. If I don’t answer, they ring again the next day; if I do answer, the call just cuts off straight away. I reckon it’s some kind of automated setup to check which numbers are active, so picking up might mean your number gets handed over to more spam callers. Or else it’s a call centre hoping to catch someone right when one of their sales people is free. Either way, it’s really annoying.

Got a call from this number earlier today on my phone. The bloke on the line had an accent that wasn’t quite British but he was definitely making an effort to sound like it. He gave his name but I couldn’t catch which 'firm' he said he was with. Claimed he wasn’t trying to sell anything, yet asked me to confirm some info - I didn’t hang about, just ended the call and blocked the number straight away. I’m sure he’ll be ringing back from a different number soon enough. They always do this sort of thing.

Got another missed call where no one said a word, so obviously a scam. If you keep getting these on your landline, check with your phone company about their call blocking options. Sky offers something called Sky Shield and BT used to have Call Guardian. These services make callers identify themselves before you answer, so if it’s an unknown number, you just don’t pick up at all. Heard it works really well and wish mobiles had something like that too!
