Got a call from some bloke saying he was from BT. He somehow had my name, address and postcode right. Tried chatting about my broadband but I'm not even with BT - pretty sure he was fishing for info using my email or something. Sounded like he had an Indian accent and the connection was really crackly. Feels like a scam to me, probably got my details from some data leak. Wish I knew how to block the number, I'd do it straight away.

Someone with a strange accent called me, saying she was trapped inside a flat next door (some kind of shared housing) with her husband, locked up by some “Asian” folks who had hurt her hand pretty badly. She said she’d tried to phone the police but her network was blocked or something. I asked her to show herself at the window of the room she was in - first she said the kitchen, then changed it to the bathroom - but she never showed up. It was clearly a scam, but honestly, I can’t figure what they hoped to get from it.

Got a call from a woman with a heavy Indian accent who struggled with her English, telling me she was ringing about my computer. When I asked her where she was calling from, she mentioned Microsoft and said there were issues with my computer. I told her that Microsoft wouldn’t phone people or message them about their PCs, which really upset her.

Someone pretending to be from Microsoft phoned me up and started threatening me, saying they knew where I lived and my name. They said they’d be sending someone to my house, speaking with an Asian accent. They even said I’d be killed like a dog. I’d say this number is quite suspicious, maybe even risky. The caller pretended to be from Microsoft, saying they noticed I hadn’t installed some updates. But then they got my setup totally wrong - couldn’t even tell if I use a laptop or a desktop! When I told them I doubted Microsoft would make calls like that, they got pretty pushy and rude. I mentioned I’d check if Microsoft actually contacts people like that and told them to ring me later, but as soon as I said that, they just cut the call.

i picked up the phone and some bloke with a really strong indian accent claimed he was ringing from microsoft about my pc. i told him microsoft never get in touch with folks at home, through calls, emails or texts. people need to reach out to microsoft themselves. he just hung up straight away. total scam, probably trying to steal info or mess with your computer.

I've been getting loads of calls starting with 02037 lately. So, today I finally picked up when a new number popped up. The guy on the line, with a thick accent, claimed he was from Microsoft and said there was something wrong with my computer. I told him I didn't trust him at all and to take my number off his list for good. Sounds like a total scam and could be quite risky if you fall for it.

Claiming they’re from Microsoft, they get you to run commands like assoc, then read out the code on your screen saying it confirms there’s a problem. That number is just a Windows default and shows up on every computer. Next, they tell you to open eventvwr to find those “errors” - which are really just normal Windows logs. Totally a scam.
