My smart gas meter from EDF broke around five months back. They put in a temporary one, then after about three months and loads of emails and WhatsApp messages, they swapped out both my gas and electric meters. It’s been seven weeks now, with even more WhatsApps, and I still have no clue about my energy use. I got a call from their complaints team which I missed, and they didn’t even bother to leave a voicemail. Proper rubbish company, total waste of time.

If this is really EDF calling, it’s pretty frustrating they rang me this morning. I’ve already got a complaint with them and told them by email that I don’t want to talk over the phone. We also got a call from EDF. We’ve had a complaint open with them for a while now. We’re trying to switch from a Deemed Economy 7 tariff to a single rate one, but they just keep making excuses, saying it’ll be sorted in 24 to 48 hours or by the end of the week. Like a few others have mentioned, this feels like the complaints line for EDF energy. I ignored about 5 calls while at work, then finally picked up. The person had a strong Indian accent and asked if it was a good moment to chat (which was a bit obvious it wasn't since it took me 6 tries to pick up). I told them to email me instead as I was busy and wanted everything in writing for proof. Instead, they sent me a WhatsApp message and have rung me 4 more times since. Still no email though. Avoid picking up calls from these dodgy call centre scams, they normally come from some ethnic group pretending to be EDF or whoever is 'official' now. It usually rings about five times and then the auto dialler drops the call and moves on to the next number. Best thing to do is just not answer and block the number straight away.
