My mum, who’s 90 and has dementia, got a call convincing her to hand over £199.99 for a fake repair service. We’ve already told the bank it’s a scam and hope they sort it out.

Got a call about renewing our TV insurance and they kept ringing relentlessly. My missus gave them the bank details thinking it was legit. Now our card’s been blocked - what a nightmare!

Got a call from some ‘homecare’ lot about renewing our TV insurance. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

I got a call earlier from someone saying my warranty on a television I bought about five years ago was up for renewal. The person on the phone was really persistent, trying to get me to give my debit card info, even after I said no way and mentioned I have a different card. They kept insisting that if I confirmed my details, I'd get half off the renewal. When I asked for a callback number, they gave me this one, but it didn’t match the number I saw on my caller ID. I looked it up and it’s marked as dodgy. Honestly, watch out for calls like this!

Got a call to my mum’s house from someone asking for her bank info for some TV insurance. They couldn’t even say where she lives or what kind of TV she has - total scam, watch out!

My 90 year old dad got a call from these lot about some TV insurance thing, and they already had all his info, so he ended up agreeing to it. Luckily, I got his neighbour to pop round quick and help block his card before they could drain his account. What a bunch of scammers!

My mum got a call about fixing her TV and they tried to get her to pay right away. When she handed me the phone, I asked if they could send me the info by email, but they said no. Then they went on to ask for the three numbers on the back of her card plus the last four digits of the card itself. Definitely a scam in my book!

Today my mum got a call from this number, they were threatening her for money and then suddenly said less was owed. She got all flustered and ended up giving them her info. They’re attempting to withdraw 149 quid from her account. Thankfully, she phoned the bank straight after and reported the whole thing. Make sure you watch out and tell your family about it.

I got a call from some “homecare” lot saying it was about something from years back that needed renewing. They asked for my bank info and tried to charge me £200. Luckily, I threw the number into Google right away and found out it was linked to a scam targeting parts of the UK. I quickly cancelled my card before they could take anything. My tip? If you get a call like that, always check the number online and call your bank straight away just to be safe.

My mum and dad, who are quite elderly, got a call from someone claiming they’d signed them up for cover on home appliances in 2023. The person on the phone threatened them, saying there was a second instalment of £200 overdue. They said it couldn’t be cancelled because of some legal binding contract and kept pushing for a cancellation charge of £89. They’ve actually been with British Gas for this insurance for over 20 years, so this felt really off. The amount hasn’t even left their account yet, so their bank can’t do anything about it either.

Got a call earlier today claiming it was about some warranty for a washing machine I supposedly bought last year. The details were way off, but somehow they had my bank code name and the first half of my card number. I’ve already got my card blocked and plan to pop into the bank tomorrow to sort it out.

Got a call from someone saying I’d signed up for a scheme years ago, like five years back. They asked for my bank card info and said I owed £149. They claimed to be from Homecare Ltd, Meacham England, and said it was about TV repairs or something like that. Felt really dodgy to me.

So my dad got a call on his home phone from this number, someone was saying he owed money on a washing machine cover and wanted his credit card info. The funny thing is, that washing machine was bought second hand for just £50 and doesn’t have any kind of protection or policy on it. Definitely smells like a scam to me.

This number called my elderly mum twice, and we reckon it might be a scam.
