Phone number ☎️ 02045250607 👆 is reported as a persistent scam involving callers falsely claiming to represent HMRC or offering PPI and tax refunds. Many recipients note the calls as silent, disconnected upon callback, or accompanied by suspicious company names. Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was sorting a £399 PPI refund and needed my bank details to send a cheque. Kept pestering us and wasn’t happy when we kept asking questions. Definite scam alert! Looked up her firm, I-SMART, and it’s dodgy as hell!

Got a call from this number claiming to be from the tax office. Told them straight up that the tax office never calls like that and told the person to jog on. Total nonsense.

I received a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC, but they were unable to furnish me with a contact number for a return call or even verify an office address for HMRC. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

I had a right dodgy experience with some con artists pretending to be from the tax office. They already had my last name and address, which I suppose you can fish out from the electoral register. However, when I pressed them for more information, like my email address, the caller abruptly hung up. Just a word of caution: they seem rather convincing, but whatever you do, don’t divulge any personal details!

I recently received a call from this number, claiming that I was entitled to a £600 tax refund. They wanted to know if I preferred it in my current or debit account. I responded with a firm 'neither'. Then, they inquired if I would like it sent via cheque and asked for my bank details. At that point, I decided it best to cease all communication and hung up.

I've had a couple of calls now claiming I’m owed a tax refund. When I mentioned that I don't even pay tax these days, they insisted it was for past years. I hung up before they could come back with another spiel. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

I received a call recently, but thankfully my voicemail intercepted it. As someone who works in the accounting field, I can assure you that HMRC doesn’t make unsolicited phone calls about tax refunds. All communication happens via formal letters. Keep in mind, there's also a fair share of fraudulent letters doing the rounds. If you're ever uncertain, it's best to dial the HMRC contact number you’ve used before. Better safe than sorry!

I received a call from someone claiming they were about to process a refund for my PPI tax. The atmosphere sounded very much like a busy call centre, and they insisted on getting my bank sort code and account details or my IBAN from a bank statement. I wasn’t comfortable sharing that information, and they became rather irritable when I declined. When I asked if they could verify their identity by sending something through the post before I would consider accepting any cheque, they outright refused, which raised my suspicions. Once I hung up, I tried calling the number back, and they referred to themselves as PPS Services. Quite the dubious operation, I’d say!

Received a call claiming I had a tax refund from HMRC. The caller requested my bank reference number, but when I declined, he became quite aggressive, speaking over my wife's words as she took the call. He insisted she provide him with our bank sort code and ID number. When I requested to have a chat with him directly, he abruptly hung up. Just a heads up to everyone-don’t share any personal information!

I had a call today, the 3rd of February, at precisely 14:15 on my home phone. It was a bunch of scammers pretending to be from HMRC. They already had my surname and address, which can easily be found through the electoral roll. When I questioned them about who they were trying to reach, claiming a name that isn't mine (and honestly, never would be), the chap lost his temper and started swearing at me. Talk about being caught in the act! Does anyone know if it's possible to report these calls to the police or any other authority? It's baffling how they're allowed to operate like this!

I received a call purporting to be from HMRC, claiming that my mum had an outstanding payment with them. They mentioned they were going to initiate a claim on her behalf, but then they asked for her bank details. I happened to be at her place during the call, so I took over. I firmly informed them that we never disclose banking information over the phone. I suggested they send any correspondence through the post since they already had her address, but they continued to press the matter. Subsequently, I decided to hang up. Remarkably, they attempted to reach us four more times, but I managed to cut off each call. It’s truly appalling how these lowlife scammers target vulnerable older individuals!
