02045204762 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 02045204762 👆 is reported as a persistent scam number linked to fraudulent refund calls concerning washing machine or home appliance warranties. Callers, often with South Asian accents, claim an overpayment refund of around £119 and request bank or cheque details to process it. The calls include silent or abandoned calls and can be persistent, with frequent variations on the number used. Users strongly advise not to share any personal or banking information and recommend reporting these calls to official police fraud databases and contacting MPs to seek stronger measures against spoofed and fake UK numbers. Blocking the number is often ineffective as scammers regularly change numbers.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with Home Service about a washing machine refund of £119. They asked if I still lived at my address and postcode (both spot on, which freaked me out a bit). Then they asked how I wanted the refund, credit card or bank transfer. I told them I wasn’t giving any info and to just send a cheque instead. She pushed again but I told her I knew it was a scam and pretty sharpish told her to buzz off!

Just a couple of tips on how to tackle these pesky foreign scam calls that prey on vulnerable folks and pester the rest of us. It’s a bit of a hassle, but I’ve personally made the effort to report every scam call and text to the police database (I even saved the link in my favourites). Sadly, it’s gonna take loads of people doing the same before any real action happens, but loads report scams on here daily. You won’t see changes overnight if you do this, but if nobody bothers, these scams will just keep going on and on.

SCAM ALERT! Make sure to report every scam call or message to the police fraud system. Just search for ‘action fraud’ on Google and head over to the ‘police.uk’ website. Find the ‘report a phishing attempt’ section and carefully go through all the info provided. Then put in the details of the scam, including any links or web addresses. You don’t need to sign up or share personal info unless you’ve been financially affected by the fraud. Reporting these scams is the best way for the police to track and stop these criminals.

Got a scam call about a refund for a washing machine warranty I never even bought. I told them brilliant, go ahead and send the cheque! Then they handed me over to some supervisor who wanted my bank info. I asked if they could just post the cheque to the address they mentioned earlier, but the bloke just hung up on me!!

Got a call from someone talking about £119, either a refund or money I supposedly owe. The person sounded foreign and honestly, I couldn’t make out what they were saying properly. Felt like a scam to me. When I told them if it was a scam they wouldn’t get anything from me, the line just went dead.

Somebody called me from this number saying they were "Caroline Mitchell" from the "Homecare Refund Department." They claimed I was due a £119 refund for an old washing machine warranty that I supposedly overpaid. They knew my name and wanted my bank details to send the money straight into my account. My wife got called too not long ago, and they already had her name and address. She asked if they could send a cheque instead, but the caller didn’t want to do that and just ended the call! Definitely steer clear - seems like a dodgy scam attempt!

Got a call saying I was owed £119 back for some overpayment on a washing machine warranty. When I asked for proof to confirm their identity, they tried to back it up by using my address info. Problem was, the address was from years ago - we moved like 15 years back, way before I even bought any new washing machine. When I mentioned I’d look through my bank statements to see any payments to Homecare, they just ended the call.

Got a call from an Indian man about being overcharged £119 on my washing machine warranty. I said I'd check with the original company, but he was really pushy and just kept going over the same thing. Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming they’d wrongly charged me £119 for a washing machine warranty. I had just said no to extra coverage, so it kinda made sense. She wanted my bank details to put the money back, but when I asked where they’d taken it from, she said my credit card. I told her to refund it to the same card and asked for the card number to check it with me. Then suddenly she just cut the call!

There’s been way more of these calls showing up recently. Whenever I check 1471 and spot it’s an 020 number, I just decide to not pick up. Surely OffCom could step in and sort this out?

I dont know why I still pick up calls from 020 numbers, they always seem dodgy. I said “hello” and after a little pause this bloke with an Asian accent came on and asked for “Mr” then butchered my first name like it was a last one. I didnt say anything proper, just replied with “Who’s this?” Not what he was after I guess, cause he hung up straight away. So yeah, another 020 number to add to the list. One thing I’ve found that freaks these scammers out is when you say, “No, this is Interpol, what can I do for you?” when they ask for you by name. Works every time!

The number 020452 04762 keeps blowing up my landline, and the caller has an Indian accent. It’s definitely a scam, so just hang up straight away. I thought the government was gonna stop these annoying calls by now.

020450204762 rang and asked for Mrs xxxxxx. I said, "Can I ask who's calling?" They just kept saying they wanted Mrs xxxxxx. I pressed again, "Who is this?" and they just said it’s none of my concern. So, I just ended the call!

Got a call from someone saying she needed to give me a £180 refund for some home appliance insurance. She then asked me to confirm my house number and postcode. I told her no way, told her to remove me from her list and then ended the call.

Got a call about washing machine insurance saying I’d paid too much and asking for my bank info. Told her she should be embarrassed, trying to rip people off like that. She didn’t take it well and was quite cheeky with me. Hopefully it makes her reconsider before she attempts to scam another person.

Got hit with an overcharge on my home appliance insurance. They then shoved me onto a "supervisor"! When they asked for my postcode, sort code and account details, I flat out refused to give any of that info.

Got a call from an Indian bloke saying he was from Homeserve, offering to refund for home appliance insurance and asking for my bank details. Told him he was a scammer and he just hung up. This is the third call today from what sounded like the same person using different numbers like 02045204929 and 02036089546. I've blocked these numbers with a call blocker now, but this is getting ridiculous. The scammer keeps switching numbers to avoid being caught.

Got a call about some appliance deal, they said they’d overpaid me £119 and wanted my bank details to sort it out. I asked them to send a cheque instead, then suddenly got switched to some supervisor asking for my IBN number from my bank statement or cheque book. I said no and they kept pushing, so I just ended the call.

What a dreadful scammer this is! Here's how their sinister operation unfolds: -

Should you provide them with your bank details, including your account number and sort code for a fraudulent reimbursement they're peddling (typically around £119), they’ll initially deposit a hefty sum into your account, and yes, this is often money pilfered from a stolen credit card! Subsequently, they’ll plead with you to send it back, claiming it was merely a mistake on their part. If you’ve already been duped into engaging with them, whatever you do, DO NOT send them any cash, regardless of how much they whimper or threaten you, as that money goes directly into their illicit account, not to the rightful owner of the funds. Eventually, the real credit card holder will catch on to the deception and arrange for those stolen funds to be retrieved from your account automatically.

Got a call from a guy named Shaun who spoke with a proper thick Indian accent, was saying I’m due £190 for my washing machine insurance, which is mad because I’ve never actually insured it! I told him that sounds fab and to just send the money back to the original account, he then asked for the details again to “confirm” or something, I just said he should already have them, thanked him and ended the call.

They called me trying to push some product. I sent £24 to account 09-01-29 46491936. Couple of hours later, got back £37. Tried sending £24 again four times through faster payments to the same account, and every single time I received £37 back exactly two hours later! I decided to quit after that, worried it might cause problems for me.

I recently received a rather dubious phone call claiming that I was due a £119 refund concerning my washing machine insurance. When I asked for the payment to be made via cheque, they asked for my IBAN number. Having a hunch that it was a con, I pushed back on their request, and after a few minutes of them trying to convince me, they ultimately hung up. Classic scammer tactics, if you ask me!

I received yet another phone call concerning an alleged overpayment related to my washing machine’s extended warranty. I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was all a scam, so I declined to provide that information. Almost immediately, she ended the call. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

Received a call from a gentleman speaking with an Indian accent, and let me tell you, the background commotion was unbelievable! He claimed he was from a home care company and was offering a refund of £119, which he alleged I had been overcharged for when I purchased a warranty for my washing machine. Naturally, he requested my bank information, but I swiftly informed him that I considered it all to be a scam. He then passed me on to a supervisor who inquired about the issue at hand. I made it abundantly clear that I would not be sharing any personal details-just send me a cheque instead, I said!

I've received a rather concerning communication regarding a reimbursement of £119 for a warranty on our washing machine, which it seems we may have overpaid for. It feels as though they’re targeting individuals who have recently forked out for such policies. Frankly, I’m quite unsettled that they seem to possess my wife’s information from who knows where!

Had my last name, an exceedingly loud Asian woman. She became rather agitated when I inquired about her identity, then promptly cut the call. After perusing the other reviews, it seems quite likely she was gearing up for some sort of scam involving refunds. Best to dismiss this sort of thing without a second thought.

Some lady called me claiming she was Sharon, sounded like she had an Indian accent, saying I was owed some money back for a washing machine. When I asked for a cheque instead of giving details over the phone, she got quite annoyed and asked for private info, which I refused. She said she was from some "refund department" in Warrington but couldn’t provide any purchase details. Definitely a scam, so don’t give them anything. She got really rude and short with me, so I just hung up. They've been ringing me loads lately.
