I never pick up calls from numbers I don't recognise. The moment the voicemail started, they just ended the call.

I keep getting calls from this number, and whenever I pick up, there’s a woman’s voice I’ve never heard before. It’s rather unsettling, as she hangs up straight away. Perhaps she's looking to speak to a bloke? Regardless, it's been 2 or 3 times now, and it's starting to make me a bit anxious.

A couple comments down explain why just blocking these calls isn’t enough and how to really help put a stop to these scams. Reporting them doesn’t take any longer than writing up your experience here. Sure, it won’t fix things overnight but right now the police don’t even fully grasp how widespread this problem is or what the newest tricks are. If everyone getting these dodgy calls and messages doesn’t take a moment to report them and raise a fuss with their local MP, nothing will be done about these crooks.

Someone claiming to be from Home Appliance Support Ltd rang me, saying I had a policy with them due for renewal. When I asked where their office was, they gave me a London address. I tried to find out when the policy started, but as soon as I asked, the caller just hung up on me. I later checked Companies House and found out this Leeds company actually closed down back in 2018. Sounds like a total scam to me.

Got a call saying my appliance warranty had expired and that the stores where I bought them had notified them. They told me they could cover up to 5 appliances for £225 a year. Honestly, sounds like a complete rip-off to me. They tried to transfer me to a “senior advisor” who’d explain why I should take up the cover and what would happen if I didn’t. No chance I’m going for it. Feels like they might just want to scam me out of £225 or maybe even get hold of my bank info.

I called my usual home appliance cover provider and they told me they’d never heard of this company and definitely hadn’t given them permission to act for them. Seems like a scam just trying to get you to pay for insurance you don’t need. Avoid it!

I attempted to ring the number again but got nothing, says number’s out of service. Maybe it’s some kind of call centre setup that only lets calls go out, so you can’t ring them back. Has anyone else managed to get through to this number?

They claimed to be from some online investment company. When I told them I wasn't interested, they just kept pushing. When I got annoyed, they started being really rude and insulting. Proper cheeky!
