Got a call from a woman speaking with an Asian accent, claiming it was regarding our "online phone number" or something like that. We don’t actually have anything like that. It was obviously a scam. My wife wasn’t having any of it, told her off pretty harshly and called her a total scammer before slamming the phone down. We've blocked the number since then.

Got a call from a woman with a heavy accent saying she was from some company called Opticom or something, talking about my landline. She mentioned that my phone bills would go down next month, sounded a bit fishy. When she asked how many calls I usually make each month, I just ended the call straight away.

She told me my number's registration had expired and that I needed to sign up again. Sounds like a total scam to me, so watch out for this one. I've been inundated with calls from this number since the 1st of April 2022. Can you believe it? Eight missed calls in total, but each time I attempted to pick up, the line would go silent. At first, I suspected it was a jolly April Fool's prank, given the date, but the calls just kept on coming. Today alone, I've racked up another six missed calls. Ah, is that Anna? I received a rather peculiar call regarding some budget-friendly phone rates that are supposedly kicking in soon. They mentioned an amount of £15.99 for line rental, which I reckon is already sorted since I've got my laptop and all that. Honestly, I cut the conversation short as I was swamped with more urgent matters to deal with.

WATCH OUT FOR THE CLICK LINK SCAM! If you get one of these, make sure you report it straight to the police fraud site. Just search for ‘action fraud’ and head to the police.uk website. Find the page to report phishing and read all the info on there first. Then you can put in the details of the scam, including any links or websites they sent. You don’t need to sign up or give personal info unless you’ve actually lost money from it. The only way the police can keep track of these dodgy calls and texts is if people report every single one.
