I attempted to pick up the call, yet it cuts off on me every single time!

I received a rather dodgy call from someone claiming to be from the technical support team at Microsoft. To put it bluntly, I was not having any of his nonsense! He insisted that my computer had been compromised and tried to persuade me to pay £149.99 for a remote fix. To make matters worse, he wanted me to download some software as part of his cunning plan...

I wasn’t sure who was calling so I chose to let it ring. Thought it might be one of those annoying scam calls. Just went ahead and blocked the number, then got rid of it.

I got a message from 02045200028 popping up on my laptop while I was browsing the Argos website on Chrome. It looked like some kinda security alert. I just closed the tab straight away. Not really sure if it’ll come back or if it was a one-off.

I’m completely unfamiliar with the number or the individual who rang me! The call lasted precisely 1 hour, 58 minutes, and 13 seconds, costing me £13.07. I’ve reported this to my provider, so please avoid reaching out.

I got a message popping up on my laptop saying it’d been hacked and told me to ring a certain number. I called it but they asked for money and to get into my computer, so I just ended the call! I reckon the alert was some kind of browser trick, cos when I shut the warning, my mouse pointer vanished, making it seem like a legit problem. I ended up using ctrl + alt + delete to open the task manager, forced the browser to close, and then restarted the laptop. All good now, no more scary messages at all!

Just got round to checking this number and turns out it was linked to some dodgy Microsoft Office activation software that had been sitting on my PC for like 2 years, but only just got triggered now.

Avoid dialling this number at all costs - it's definitely not affiliated with Microsoft. The individual on the other end is just fishing for your banking information. They'll drag you into an elaborate spiel while you’re staring at your computer, and then, out of nowhere, they'll claim that you owe £9.99 for some sort of registration fee. But don’t be fooled; they’ll attempt to swipe £352 or even more. Stay vigilant!
