I got a call from a woman with what sounded like an Indian or Pakistani accent. She started off by saying my name wrong and said she was ringing from Domestic & General. I cut her off quickly and asked her to take my number off their list. Then I just hung up straight away!

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be from Domestic and General, saying the warranty on my Hotpoint washing machine had run out and I should renew it with him. Only problem is, I’ve never owned a Hotpoint. When I mentioned that, he just hung up on me. Total scammer!

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent claiming he was from Domestic and General. He told me my washing machine warranty was expiring tomorrow, then quickly changed it to say it had already expired. I told him I'd look at my documents and contact them myself. He said he’d stay on the line while I checked, but I told him I don’t do deals over the phone and ended the call.

I've had this bloke ring me up four times in just a couple of days, all trying to persuade me to renew the warranty on my washing machine. Got a ring from this number just now, some bloke asking for a Mrs Herbert. I told him no one like that lives here and told him to scrap my number from his records, then he just cut me off, pretty cheeky if you ask me. This isn't the first time either, these calls have been coming for years, always the same Indian accent, always looking for Mrs Herbert. Makes me wonder if she’s some busy important person or just worn out from all this! LOL. Gotta watch these calls though, next time I reckon I’ll pretend to be her daughter and see how he reacts.

This number has been calling me nonstop for several weeks. They claim to be from Domestic and General, the appliance insurance company, saying my washing machine warranty has expired. It’s a total con - my warranty is still valid. The real Domestic and General never ring you up like this. Their warranties renew automatically unless you opt out. Be careful with this number, it’s dodgy and don’t hand over any of your bank info.

Some bloke rang asking if he was speaking to Mrs Holland. I said he’s got the wrong number. Then he went on to say an address I'd never come across before. I said I’ve had this number for like 17 years so dunno how mine got linked to that name. Not the first time someone’s dialled me looking for Mrs Holland. Then he wanted to know my name, and I just told him he didn’t need to bother, but I’m definitely not Mrs Holland.

I said nicely there’s no Mrs Ferguson here and asked him to remove our number from his list, then ended the call. Surprisingly, he rang back and started moaning about how I had no right to hang up and that he wanted to talk to the correct person. I just told him to jog on and hung up again.

On 23rd Sept 2020 around 12:29, I got a call from 0204513577. The guy's voice was English, sounded quite posh, said he was from Domestic and General or something like that. He told me my washing machine’s warranty had just run out. I knew that was sketchy. When I told him I’m on the Telephone Preference Service, he just said "OK" and hung up - not the usual rude drop, so that was a bit polite at least. Still, trying to trick people like that makes me rate this call as dodgy. (search 647)

I couldnt hear anyone actually talking but there was definitely that typical Indian call centre buzz in the background. If its one of those washing machine insurance scams again, just ask them what model it is and they always seem clueless. One time I checked they had the correct machine details, then got passed to the supervisor next to them. I told them I wanted a new policy on the house since my machine kept breaking down, but they wouldnt budge. At least with me wasting their time, they werent bugging some poor old person.

Managed to grab the receiver right as they hung up. There was a weird, unclear "bye" and then silence. Looking through other remarks, it seems I've also had a few calls claiming to be from a washing machine insurance firm, so probs the same lot. I've been on the telephone preference service for ages and really wanna find out how these scammers get hold of our numbers - by law, any lists they buy for calls or mail should be scrubbed first. It's absolute rubbish and could scare older or vulnerable folks badly.

Yet, weeks or sometimes just days later, they call again with the exact same question. It’s been like this for over five years now.
