Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming to be with Virgin, said there was an issue with our internet speed. My husband pretended to go along with it and said yes. The guy told him to hit the Windows and R keys together. My hubby said he did (he didn’t really). Then the caller asked what showed up on the screen, we said the login page. Next, he asked which key sat beside the Windows key. We replied “Fn”, which we meant as “F***ing Nuisance!” Proper scam artist if you ask me!

Some bloke with an Asian accent called me claiming he was from Virgin Media and told me my internet had an issue. My elderly mother, who is 96 years of age, has been pestered by two irritating and unsolicited calls from this unknown number. Strangely enough, when one attempts to return the call, BT informs you that the number cannot be connected. If this caller were representing an actual legitimate business, their refusal to allow call-backs would be deemed a criminal act. I received a rather charming call from a lady of Asian descent claiming to be from BT OpenReach, mentioning some issues with my internet connection. She asked me to switch off my router, then guided me through the process of turning it back on while she asked about the lights flashing on the device. After that, she instructed me to boot up my computer and hit the Windows key plus R, followed by running the cmd program. She requested a specific number that should appear on my screen. At this juncture, my instincts kicked in and I felt uneasy about the whole situation, so I decided to hang up.

Please, for your own sake, don't make the same mistake I did and take their word for it.
