I got a call from this number on the 8th of October but I didn’t pick up since it seemed a bit dodgy. After checking some comments, it turns out quite a few people had similar fishy calls on that exact day, so probably scammers running about.

Got a voicemail on 8/10/2020 from an automated American lady saying she was Officer Denis Grey from HM Revenue & Customs, with the number 02039976292. The message urged me to ring them back straight away or my solicitor, or else I’d be in big trouble legally. Complete rubbish! 😠

So I rang them back like you’re supposed to, and asked for their government national insurance number to check if they were legit. Then they asked me to give them my national insurance number first. I said, “You tell me yours and I’ll confirm it,” cos that’s the proper way round, innit? They went quiet and said no, I need to confirm mine first. That’s when I told them straight - they’re total scammers and thieves, and they can try coming to the UK on a dinghy if they want a serious beating. Honestly, it’s ridiculous!
