This bloke called me saying I had unpaid tax bills and that he was phoning from HMRC! He spoke with a weird foreign accent and kept insisting I owed money. I told him I’d paid everything and that he sounded like a con artist, then he just hung up on me. When I tried calling the same number back, another guy answered, still going on about me owing tax. But when he noticed I wasn’t buying it, he ended the call too. Total scammers, watch out for these dodgy calls.

Today, I got a call from this bloke with a strong accent I couldn't place, and he started going on about me being involved in tax fraud and said he'd take me to court. Got a call early on Saturday morning, 30.10.20 around 8:15am from a number claiming to be HM. It was definitely some American robot voice telling me to call back with a solicitor and not to ignore the call. It sounded quite dodgy so I ended the call quick and checked online. Turns out HMRC don’t make calls that early or on Saturdays, so definitely a scammer trying to trick folks.

I recently looked up business insurance online and gave my home phone as the contact number. Not long after, I started getting a call with one of those dodgy automated scam messages. Was curious enough to think about calling them back to see what nonsense they would say, but chickened out in the end. My guess is it’s one of those premium-rate numbers. Really best to just block them and report it. It’s a real reminder of how easily our personal details are passed around these days.

Got a call today from a Shirley Jones - same as loads of others apparently. It was an automated voice and I couldn’t catch a lot since I was driving and had the volume low on hands-free. But the moment I heard something about the Inland Revenue and a number to ring back, I got proper annoyed. My advice? Never answer back to these scam calls, texts, or emails. Always check things up yourself, google any contact details or letters you get. Don’t let these crooks get away with it!

Got a rubbish automated call today pretending to be from HMRC. The voice claimed to be some “Officer Shirley Jones” and kept repeating some robotic threat about legal action if I didn’t get in touch. It was so dodgy it actually made me laugh, but honestly it’s pretty awful for anyone who might actually be worried and fall for it. We seriously need to find ways to put a stop to these scammers once and for all!

This scam is really nasty, it’s clear HMRC wouldn’t ring you up out of the blue, they always send letters. Still, I reckon some folks who aren’t as aware could easily get caught out.
