02039976273 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 02039976273 👆 is reported as a persistent and widespread scam involving automated calls falsely claiming to be from HMRC or Inland Revenue. Callers use threatening language, often mentioning legal consequences if the recipient or their solicitor does not respond, and sometimes employ American or foreign accents. The scam preys on vulnerable individuals, causing unnecessary fear and confusion. HMRC never initiates contact by phone demanding payment or solicitor intervention; official correspondence is always by post. Many users advise ignoring, blocking, and reporting the number to avoid falling victim. The calls are frequently linked to data breaches or leaks, and the messages are commonly poorly produced, making the scam evident to most but still dangerous for less alert recipients. Vigilance and awareness are essential to avoid this fraudulent activity.

Got a call from Sofa.com but it’s a total scam. Don’t pick up or share any info with them, looks like they’ve somehow got hold of Sofa.com’s data and are using it fraudulently. Stay safe!

I've received several similar messages. An automated voice left a voicemail, claiming to be Shirley Jones from HM Revenue and Customs, urging me to return the call and all that rigmarole.

I received a call from someone purporting to be from the tax office, and I must say, it was quite alarming for someone like me who isn’t savvy with verifying phone numbers. They allegedly issued threats, warning that if neither I nor my lawyer got back to them, there would be dire repercussions. Quite daunting, indeed!

This bloke called me saying I had unpaid tax bills and that he was phoning from HMRC! He spoke with a weird foreign accent and kept insisting I owed money. I told him I’d paid everything and that he sounded like a con artist, then he just hung up on me. When I tried calling the same number back, another guy answered, still going on about me owing tax. But when he noticed I wasn’t buying it, he ended the call too. Total scammers, watch out for these dodgy calls.

Today, I received a rather dodgy phone call from a chap with a thick foreign accent. He had the cheek to threaten me with legal action for tax fraud, something I've absolutely no involvement in. It didn't take long for me to figure out that he was not an officer from HMRC, but just another scam artist trying their luck! I promptly told him where to go and ended the call. What a cheek!

If HMRC wants to contact you, they'll send a letter first - never ring up asking for cash straight away. If someone is on the phone telling you to pay, it’s definitely a SCAM! They can take legal action but don’t expect phone calls like that.

Got a call early on Saturday morning, 30.10.20 around 8:15am from a number claiming to be HM. It was definitely some American robot voice telling me to call back with a solicitor and not to ignore the call. It sounded quite dodgy so I ended the call quick and checked online. Turns out HMRC don’t make calls that early or on Saturdays, so definitely a scammer trying to trick folks.

It's the same old trick! I tried calling back, and it was a good ten seconds before Raj finally decided to chime in. I could barely catch that he was from "Inland Revenue." Nice try, Raj, but not this time!

Received a rather dodgy call claiming to be from HMRC. It was a shockingly amateurish attempt at scamming. Being an accountant myself, it’s evident that their data screening leaves a lot to be desired. I do feel for those who might be more susceptible to such tricks, as it could really rattle them. Definitely recommend blocking this number; those callers just don’t know when to quit! What a bunch of numpties!

I recently looked up business insurance online and gave my home phone as the contact number. Not long after, I started getting a call with one of those dodgy automated scam messages. Was curious enough to think about calling them back to see what nonsense they would say, but chickened out in the end. My guess is it’s one of those premium-rate numbers. Really best to just block them and report it. It’s a real reminder of how easily our personal details are passed around these days.

Recently, I got a call from a regular-looking number but didn’t pick up because it was unfamiliar. Got a call from this number earlier, with a robotic voice of a lady claiming to be Miss Wilson. She was talking about HMRC and told me not to ignore the call. They wanted me to ring her back on a hotline, but I just ended the call. This isn’t the first time I’ve had one of these calls, but I’m not daft or terrified enough to do what she said. Got a call today from a Shirley Jones - same as loads of others apparently. It was an automated voice and I couldn’t catch a lot since I was driving and had the volume low on hands-free. But the moment I heard something about the Inland Revenue and a number to ring back, I got proper annoyed. My advice? Never answer back to these scam calls, texts, or emails. Always check things up yourself, google any contact details or letters you get. Don’t let these crooks get away with it!

I just received a rather shoddy automated call purporting to be from the Inland Revenue. It was a weak attempt at intimidation, supposedly from "Officer Shirley Jones," parading around with a robotic script that warned, "Get in touch or... brace yourself for legal repercussions!" I can’t help but find it both amusing and utterly appalling, particularly for those who might be more susceptible to such nonsense. We really ought to band together to put a stop to these con artists!

What a dreadful scam! It seems rather clear that the HMRC wouldn't ring you up like that; they usually send a formal letter instead. I can see how someone a bit more susceptible might be tricked, though. Supposedly, it's a landline from London, so why hasn't the police turned up to pay them a visit? You'd think they’d want to get to the bottom of it!
