Got a call from some company named claim guys, number 01142293237. They then gave me another number 02086115938 to call. They said I got paid and mentioned a claim ID and ref number. But when I tried ringing back, after a couple of rings it just went to voicemail. The person answering sounded like she was American. Anyone else had this? Looks dodgy to me.

They claimed to be from HMRC saying it was urgent and I had to get a solicitor. Then they said I had to report to some Sergeant or agent, gave their name and told me to call a number. Told me if I didn't I’d end up in court. I hung up straight away and will be blocking the number.

The real Domestic & General phone number begins with 0141, I know this coz I've got a policy with them. They phoned about my cover and when they called, Dom & Gen showed up on my caller ID. Since then, 0203 has also tried to get in touch, which looks like a fake number used to bug you for extra payments or possibly a scam - best just block it and don’t share any info. If you’re after extra cover from D&G, it’s safer to ring the proper 0141 number that’s on your policy papers.
