Got a call this morning in Belfast from 02039847513. They tried to scare me with some HMRC lawsuit nonsense. Just so everyone knows, HMRC doesn’t ring you up like this at all. I reckon I’ll be getting more calls from other numbers soon, since others have had the same thing happen. Such rubbish, it’s aimed at catching people who aren’t so cautious. Total scumbags.

I got a call from someone pretending to be from HMRC, and it was pretty scary. They warned me that if I ended the call, the local bobbies would come after me and I’d be arrested right away. The caller claimed I was under investigation for dodgy tax stuff and that there was a warrant out for me. Then they pressured me to grab my credit card and 'clear things up' by handing over money. Don’t fall for it! Don’t share any info. Just hang up or keep asking why they waste their time scaring folks like this. Trust me, it’s all a big con.

Had loads of calls today from people pretending to be HMRC. Seems like they’re having a busy one. Like others mentioned, defo report them to BT’s scam alert team. These nasty scammers must be causing so much worry, especially for those who might be more at risk.

Just an hour back, this caller really shook my 88-year-old mum up. He was an Indian guy who already had her name and address, yet he still asked how old she was, and she told him. After that, he started rambling with stuff she didn’t quite get, then just cut the call off. Honestly, it’s left me feeling pretty mad!

Sounds like a scam to me - HMRC never calls anyone directly. They always send letters, either to you or your accountant or tax adviser. If you get a phone call, it’s most likely a con.

An indian sounding man called my gran at least three times, being really cheeky about some tax bill she supposedly owed. She's 87 and it really upset her. They kept saying they had sent letters and kept asking who would pay it - but we never got a single letter through the post. Proper stressful for her.

Got a call the other day, picked up and there was a robotic voice claiming HMRC were taking legal action against me. It told me to press 1 to talk to someone, but when I did, the line just went silent. I called back and some guy with an Indian accent asked for my name, date of birth, and NI number. Seemed really sketchy, so I ended the call and blocked the number straight away!

Lately, I’ve been getting bombarded with calls from loads of different numbers, but I reckon it’s all the same lot of muppets. One time I did ring back and got someone acting like they were from HMRC, though they sounded about as genuine as one of those dodgy automated voice prompts. I’m planning to report these calls, and I’d honestly suggest others do as well - maybe then something will actually get done about it. And for the older folks out there, don’t let these tossers scare you off. Just block or ignore them and never share any details with them.

I got this really quiet recorded message about HMRC threatening legal stuff, asking me to press 1 to chat with some case worker or whatever. I just ended the call right away and used the bts 1572 service to block the number, super simple and doesn’t cost anything.
