Then they said I had to log into some Portal to confirm the switch. Luckily, I rang o2 myself afterwards to check, or I might’ve lost over £4500 for stuff I never bought. I got a call from an Asian woman saying she was with Virgin Media, telling me they were sending out a new SIM that merges Virgin and O2. She said my current SIM would be blocked. When I kept asking why she was calling my number, she didn’t seem to get it. I don’t even have an account with Virgin or O2. I keep getting these calls though - ages ago, my SIM was Virgin but I switched it ages back. They must be using old contact lists. Virgin wouldn’t do stuff like this, and there’s no need for a new SIM just because of the merge, mine still works fine. Total scam!

I had a recent phone call from this particular number informing me that they were a representative of Virgin Media. They claimed that due to the completion of the merger with O2, it was necessary for them to send me a new SIM card; otherwise, my mobile phone would cease to function within a week. Suspecting it was a fraudulent scheme, I quickly revealed to the caller that my husband was the authorised individual in charge of the account, and that both Virgin Media and O2 possessed all of his contact information. There was this lady on the line with a super heavy accent, speaking so quickly it was tough to catch what she was saying. She was calling from O2 Virgin, must be after their switch-over. I’d just updated my info, but then she wanted me to verify my email to do something with porting my number or whatnot. Kept saying, “Ma’am, please tell me your email,” but I just couldn’t stop myself laughing 😂😂🤣🤣🤣. It was a bit confusing but funny!

The scammer asked for my email address in order to send a unique code, but if he truly worked for O2, he would have already possessed my email address. Despite it being Mother's Day, I clearly expressed my dissatisfaction and told him to stop his fraudulent activities. However, he persisted in trying to deceive me. The displayed phone number indicated it was from London, but further investigation revealed it originated from India.

Two days ago, I was caught by surprise and became a victim of scamming while I was occupied with something else. The scammers managed to gain access to my Microsoft email account as well as my O2 account. To make matters worse, they ordered two iPhone 15's which came up to a whopping £2K. I must say, O2 needs to seriously reconsider and enhance their authentication process. When I reported the fraudulent activity, they asked for a code but it turned out to be identical to what the scammers had asked for.
