This morning, precisely at 08:15, my phone rang. After a brief moment of suspense, the caller-speaking with a rather charming Afro-Caribbean lilt-introduced themselves. Remarkably, they already had my name and proceeded to inform me that I’d won a fabulous gift card through the Post Code Lottery. I was absolutely thrilled! Then came the next question: would I like to activate this prize? I simply told them to send it my way, and added a cheeky “now go forth and multiply.” I've since blocked the number, although I suspect it’s a futile exercise. This isn't my first rodeo with such unsolicited calls; they always seem to find another number to bother me from once one gets blocked. Honestly, Ofcom, it’s high time you pulled your socks up and tackled these scam operations! Got a call from some guy who sounded like he was working in a call centre. He pretended to be from the Postcode Lottery and claimed my postcode (which he actually knew) had won a voucher that supposedly worked at big supermarkets (he rattled off loads but I caught Tesco). I received a rather dodgy call from this number that seemed to have my name and address on hand. They claimed they were keen to deposit some money straight into my bank but demanded my details. I firmly told them that I don't partake in any sort of postcode lottery and there was no chance I’d share my details over the phone. I'm well aware of how identity theft operates. So, I ended the call without a second thought.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian/Pakistani accent claiming his name was Oliver and said it was about the Postcode Lottery. Seems like a proper scam, so flagged it as dangerous because plenty of folks might fall for it.
