I've encountered a similar experience at the crack of dawn, around 7 o'clock. An Indian woman reached out to me. My goodness, she was exceptionally unpleasant! She clearly had my name. Just to clarify, we never share our phone number with anyone.

This morning around 08:57, I got a call from a number beginning with 020. Since I dont recognise anyone using that code, and ive set my BT call guardian to block all 020s automatically, I just block the whole area code instead of wasting time blocking each number separately. Makes it much easier that way.

So my hubby picked up the phone and this bloke calling himself Kevin from Microsoft rings about some hacking stuff. My husband said he doesn’t really use the computer, it’s me who does. Then the guy wanted to know where I was and when my husband said I was out, he started swearing at him, calling him all sorts of rude names, then just hung up. Proper rude and abusive behaviour.

Just before 8 in the morning, my landline was ringing and it woke me up. Since my husband passed away a few weeks back, I’m having a hard time sleeping anyway, so these scam calls about some broadband issue are the last thing I need. I’ve tried blocking their number but it’s useless because they just swap a digit or use a different number to ring me again!

Sounds dodgy to me, there were loads of background sounds like a call centre but no one actually said anything. Definitely feels like a scam.

Got a call this morning from someone claiming to be Microsoft. I told them the number was getting reported and that I was recording the call to use as proof against them. These fake calls early in the day are driving me mad, especially when I’m not feeling great. How many times do people need to report them before someone actually puts a stop to it?

So, some bloke called Edward claimed to be from Microsoft and told me my computer was hacked because they’d apparently been receiving alerts from it all week. Thing is, my PC was completely switched off the entire time. Received a call from 02039559807, with someone insisting they were from Microsoft support. When they inquired about what was displayed on my screen, I asked them to specify which monitor they meant. Their response was a rather cheeky, 'How many have you got?' I mentioned I had six, to which they curiously asked about my occupation. When I mentioned I was a technical author, they unexpectedly erupted with a rather colourful remark, calling me an F'ing B'stard! Not quite sure if that's part of Microsoft's code of conduct! 😊

Got a call from a woman selling broadband, first from 01184021111. As soon as I hung up, she rang me back but this time from a totally different number. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.

Saw the number was an 0203 so I didn’t rush to answer, and before I could pick up the phone it went to voicemail. I waited to see if someone would say anything but all I got was silence, so I ended the call. They’ve been ringing me from various 0203 numbers quite a bit, so I’ve learnt it’s probably not worth my time.

Got a couple of calls - one yesterday and another just today. The latest one was from a woman insisting she was from Microsoft, claiming there was some sort of security issue with my computer. I told her to shove off, as I recognised it for the scam it is. If they try to ring me again, I won’t hesitate to report them to the police!

Got a call from some bloke claiming he was with Microsoft. Weirdly, he knew my name and where I live. I wasn’t having any of it, so I just ended the call. Then he called back straight away, but this time from a different number, 01986807479. I told him I’m an Apple user, so why would Microsoft need to ring me? I ended up telling him off quite bluntly and told him to buzz off.

Today at 08:21, I got a call from this number which was pretty annoying given the early hour. At first, there was silence, then some fake-looking office sounds, followed by a man just repeatedly saying 'Hello' without adding anything else. I’m pretty sure it was just another scam attempt!

Got a call from a Anna at Microsoft on the 0720 number. I don’t even use Microsoft, but I guess it was a bit early for a phone chat. Cheers ####

Got a call from someone claiming they were calling from Microsoft, but they had a really strong foreign accent. When I asked them how they even knew I had a PC, they just hung up on me. Pretty sure it was a scam.

Just had a call from 02039559807 claiming to be Microsoft, talking about some security breach. We’re all Apple gear here, but apparently they knew we had some Microsoft stuff for school. When I said I thought it sounded dodgy, the caller started shouting at me, like "shut up, I’m calling to protect you, you’re in danger". Honestly, I just laughed and hung up straight away. Total scam.

I got a call from a woman named Tracey who had an accent, claiming to be from Microsoft. She said there had been multiple reports about my IP address being used without permission, suggesting my computer was hacked. I didn’t reply to her and told her that Microsoft doesn't make unsolicited calls and I wasn’t interested. She then said she would block my IP. After I ended the call, I looked up the number and it looks like it was just a scam.

I've noticed that when you confront the individual on the other line, they tend to become quite aggressive and may even issue threats if the conversation drags on for too long...

I got a call from a bloke who just said hello and then the line went dead.

Got a call from a woman with a thick accent saying she was from Microsoft, asking if I was the primary user of the PC. I remembered a comment here where someone told the caller to think about school if they wanted a real job, so I asked her if she ever went to school. She just ended the call straight away. That was a win!

There was just silence at first, then the caller asked, "Are you on a laptop or a computer?" I told them, if they were truly Microsoft, they’d already have that info! Ended by hanging up.

I got a call from this number a moment ago, and the person said his name was Trever. Luckily, my BT call minder wouldn’t allow the call to go through without me agreeing first, so it got blocked straight away.

I just had a rather dodgy call from someone claiming to be Michael from Microsoft Cyber Security-definitely an individual with an Indian accent. Can't say I've ever met a Michael who speaks like that! Not wanting to play their game, I promptly ended the call and added the number to my blocked list.

Somebody rang saying they were 'Kevin' from 'Microsoft', with a South Asian accent, claiming there was a fault with my Microsoft PC. Obviously a load of rubbish. If I hadn’t been in a rush, I might have told them (1) I don’t even own a Windows computer connected to the internet, and (2) my router was off, so no way they could spot any issue. Instead, I just asked for some proof about which machine they meant. When they couldn’t say, I just ended the call.

Got a call from this number bright and early at 7:30 today. When I picked up, there was just silence on the other end. We've had calls from these digits before, but since our bedroom landline doesn't show the caller ID, it's hard to tell straight away. I’m sure it’s another one of those Microsoft scams. It’s crazy how these annoying calls keep coming even though everyone knows about them and they’re so well reported. Why can’t someone put an end to this constant pestering?

The next time the police show up at her place, I bet that woman’s voice will go all high-pitched and much less confident.

Got a call from 020 3955 9807 today. Some bloke said he was from Microsoft and was talking about my computer. I told him straight up, "This is a scam, don't waste my time." He quickly insisted, "No, sir, this isn’t a scam!" I just replied again, "It definitely is," and hung up on him.

I usually don't pick up calls from 020 numbers, so even if I had been around, I probably wouldn’t have bothered with this one. Wasn't really up for answering anyway.

Received a call at half past eight on Saturday morning. The bloke on the line claimed he was from Microsoft, wanting to chat about my computer issues. I quickly retorted, “Don’t bother trying to pull a fast one on me with your dodgy scam!” He insisted, in quite an agitated manner, “I assure you, this is not a scam, sir!” I firmly stated, “It’s definitely a scam,” and promptly hung up on him.

Some bloke rang me up pretending to be from Microsoft, saying my PC was full of viruses. When I told him to shove off, he started swearing at me, calling me nasty names and wishing I’d rot in hell or something. Pretty sure no genuine Microsoft support guy would be that rude.

I got a call from this number after ending a call from an 01993 one. The caller said they were from Microsoft, telling me my computer was at risk. They spoke really harshly and were quite pushy, which annoyed me so much I just hung up. After that, I blocked the number straight away. These sort of calls have become so frequent, I’m seriously thinking about ditching my landline altogether since most of the calls I get are like this now.
