Reports on phone number 02039507775
2 yearsAn elderly family member of mine, aged 85, received a letter in a light green envelope. The front had a piece of paper with their name and address stuck on, plus a Royal Mail Cumbria, Dumfries & Galloway stamp dated 13/4/2024 at 16:52:04, with a second class stamp. Inside was a letter dated 30th March 2024 with a red L and a blue BDO United Kingdom logo. It included my relative’s full name and address but didn’t have any official headings, email addresses, stamp, or reference numbers. The letter was about the 2022-2023 tax year and earlier and said the self-assessment was overdue with a penalty due. It mentioned a £100 fine but suggested you could make an advance payment and claim tax relief if you call 02039507775. When my relative phoned, she explained she’s only on a basic pension. The woman on the other end was very rude and forceful, insisting she MUST pay £400. When my relative told her to "get lost," they just hung up on her!Royal MailCumbriaDumfries& GallowayBDOUnited Kingdom2 yearsGot this letter in the post, claiming I owed a penalty for missing my self assessment deadline. It had no HMRC logo, no phone number or any real reference on it. When I rang the number they gave, some lady immediately asked for £400 straight away. A letter came through from some health food company saying I owed them cash, but they never said how much. The phone number on their letter was 0203 950 7775, exactly as it’s shown here. They also warned me about legal steps, which I’m pretty sure is just bluff.Jennifer4 yearsJust got a call from someone trying to scam me.
