Having dabbled in numerous competitions lately, I naively assumed this call was genuine. Then they proceeded to request my bank details - account number and sort code - supposedly to channel my future prizes. At the time, I figured that with merely this information, they couldn't do much more than initiate a direct debit, and I thought I’d be safe under consumer protection. In a moment of utter folly, I consented, reassured I'd have the option to back out before the month's end. However, after perusing their terms and sifting through other users' comments, I'm beginning to suspect that this may not be as straightforward as I'd hoped.
