I distinctly remember it being an Indian chap, and he mentioned he was calling from HMRC. I do wonder, though, why they can’t just drop a letter or some form of correspondence in the post if it’s really a legitimate call? Seems a bit odd, doesn’t it?

Received a missed call, so I decided to return the call. To my surprise, the chap on the other end was rather impolite and quite sassy, if I'm honest. When I explained that I was returning the missed call, he very smugly replied, “Well, of course, we called you and you didn't answer, so it’s a missed call, isn't it?” Seriously off-putting. I couldn't be bothered to offer him any guidance, so I just ended the call. He claimed to represent HMRC, but something felt off.

I received a voicemail claiming to be from HMRC, insisting that I couldn't brush off their call. The person spoke with an American accent and made ominous threats about potential repercussions. Clearly, it’s a scam!

I've received a couple of calls from this number already today. I chose not to pick up, and they didn't leave any voicemails. From what I've read in the comments, it seems like they purport to be from HMRC, but they're ringing me from a different mobile than the one I've provided to them. It’s obviously some sort of scam or dodgy business, isn't it?

I received a couple of missed calls earlier and, lo and behold, they left a voicemail. The message had an American twang, claiming to be from HMRC, insisting I should get in touch urgently, or my solicitor and I would be in hot water legally. I've decided not to return the call.

I received a couple of voicemails from this number, both featuring a robotic voice purporting to be "Dennis Grey" from HM Revenue and Customs. The message warned me to "return the call or prepare for legal consequences." It’s worth noting that HMRC has been highlighting scams like this, using similar phrasing, on their Twitter feed since 2019. Best to give any communications from this number a wide berth!
