I received a rather curious phone call from a chap named "Mike," who had a rather thick accent. He claimed to be associated with something like Opcom or Optcom-it's a bit muddled, to be honest-talking about enhancing my "call-blocking service." When I probed deeper, he just kept parrotting, "we block calls," before abruptly cutting the line. After that, I dialled 1471 to trace the number, and upon selecting the "press 3" option, I was met with a robotic voice inviting me to choose from "billing," "sales," or "customer support." I must say, I wasn't tempted to proceed with any of that!

I’ve been receiving persistent cold calls regarding property development from this number. Interestingly, it appears this same number has been involved in some call blocking scams lately as well.

I received a call from a chap with a heavy Indian accent claiming to be from BT. He mentioned something about enhancing the protection on my phone against unwanted calls today. I cut him off before he could continue, so I'm not sure if he intended to request any payment details or personal info. Interestingly, the same number had contacted me a couple of days earlier, but the call dropped as soon as I picked up.

Clearly a dodgy caller. They didn’t utter a word, but there was that characteristic pause before they connected, just like the ones you often get from those Indian call centres. Plus, I could hear some chatter in the background.
