They were calling me up trying to get me to make a disrepair claim, which I know is actually illegal.

I had a rather peculiar encounter with a woman's voice attempting to pry into my personal details, yet she was rather evasive about revealing her own identity. From what I've gathered, any call that comes from an '0203' number tends to scream SCAM. It's a trend I've noticed consistently!
5 years
I got a call from a woman who kept asking for my personal details but refused to say who she was. From what I've seen, any call coming from an 0203 number is usually dodgy and probably a scam.

I received a call from a woman who was quite insistent on finding out my personal details, yet she refused to disclose her own identity. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

My Truecall call blocker picked up on a call from an unknown number and stopped it in just 6 seconds. Usually when a call auto-dials like that, it’s a spam or scam attempt. Pretty happy it got blocked straight away!

At 2.24pm, I got a call but the person on the other end just dropped it right when my voicemail kicked in. Sounds like the usual suspicious caller nonsense.

Got a call from someone super pushy asking for info, it felt a bit sketchy to me. The connection was really bad so I couldn't catch everything they said. They were talking about a warranty for a washing machine, just like other people have said here. Seems like a total scam to me.

Never pick up calls from dodgy numbers, they’re usually scammers trying to rip you off. Just ignore ‘em and don’t engage, they’ll move on quickly if you show no interest. Stay safe!

Received a call at 17:55 on the 27th of July, 2021. The person on the other end spoke in a foreign tongue, making it utterly baffling to decipher their words. All I gathered was a mention of insurance regarding a Hotpoint washing machine, which, I might add, we've never owned. Decided it was best to end the call.

This lady on the phone kept asking for my details but refused to tell me who she was. She didn’t explain why she was calling at all. From what I’ve seen, if someone cold calls and is pushing to find out who you are, it’s most likely a scam.

########################### BEWARE SCAM CALL FROM HOME APPLIANCE INSURERS ########################### Got a call from a woman with an asian accent, pushing some kind of appliance insurance. She was pretty pushy and kept at it. I acted a bit interested just to see what she was on about and asked if she could send me the policy details. Of course, she never sent anything or even tried to. The phone connection was rubbish, could barely catch half of what she said, but I managed to keep her talking for like 10 to 15 minutes. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.

No message left on the answerphone once again, just wasting my time. Really hope they end up losing out financially because of it.

Got a call from this Christi lady, saying she was from Home Appliance Serve. She said my hotpoint washing machine's warranty ran out, which is totally wrong cause I don’t even have a Hotpoint. She tried selling me some bogus cover, but when I asked when the warranty ended, she couldn’t even tell me. Then she just dropped the call on me!

Some bloke started talking about a washing machine warranty or something, but I just ended the call straight away. I’ve had this exact call before, so wasn’t really in the mood for it.

What a con! They phoned me up claiming that the warranty on my decade-old washing machine had run out. Quite the surprise, eh? Clearly fishing for my bank details, I reckon. I gave them a piece of my mind and promptly told them to shove off!

Got a call about a guarantee for my washing machine but the details were really unclear. They claimed I’d already sorted something for my machine, which isn’t true - it’s quite new as well. Then the person just ended the call abruptly. After reading a few other comments, it looks like this could well be a scam, so I’m glad I didn’t fall for it.

I got a call from a guy with a really thick Indian accent that was super hard to understand. He was trying to sell me some kind of warranty for my washing machine, saying mine had run out recently. The thing is, I've never actually had a warranty on my washer. When I asked what brand my machine was, he called it a "Boosh." I don't own anything like a Boosh, not even a Bosch. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

Got a call from someone saying my washing machine warranty was about to run out. I found it funny and told them my washer's well over a decade old, like 14 years, so it’s pretty clear they’re out of date, then ended the call. Felt dodgy since they actually knew my name (used to be a director). Someone else here mentioned Domestic & General - I've got covers with them for other gear, so I'm a bit worried if there's been some kind of data breach? Best thing is not to share any details or even confirm you're the person they say they want.

My home phone rang from this number earlier but I couldn't answer quickly enough. There wasn't any voicemail or message left afterwards. Since I'd never seen the number before, I tried ringing it back but the BT system told me it didn’t recognise the number at all. Feels like it could’ve been one of those dodgy spam calls, maybe even risky.

Got a call from a guy who said his name was Max, telling me the warranty on my washing machine had run out and his company would be handling it from now on. I told him I’m on the TPS list and that I’d be reporting the call. He ended the call straight away. I’ve made sure to report the dodgy call to the TPS.

Got a call claiming my washing machine warranty was up and I needed to renew. Asked if I’d been under the shower recently or something - very weird. When will these scam callers finally get their just desserts? Feels like no one’s doing anything to stop them. Guess it’s just too simple for these scammers to keep going… very frustrating!

Got a call from someone with a weird accent telling me my washing machine warranty was up. Total rubbish, mine’s fine. Feels like they just assume everyone owns a dishwasher or something. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re somehow sneaking into Domestic & General’s system - they basically control all the cover for home appliances. Domestic & General really ought to step in and sort this out.

They somehow already knew all my info and claimed they were ringing from Hotpoint. They said the warranty on my washing machine had been extended. I was a bit wary but let them go on for a bit. They tried making it seem like a free service at first, then suddenly said it would cost £6.50 each month. When I said I wasn’t willing to pay, they got quite nasty. I asked which company they were with and then they just cut me off.

Got a silent ring from some scammer who was clearly up to no good, trying to scam me out of money. These aren't just scammers, they're straight up criminals looking to cheat folks. I reckon the phone companies and cops could easily put a stop to it, but feels like they couldn’t care less. These masked phone numbers could definitely be tracked down if anyone really wanted to, but like lots of things, nothing gets done until it's way too late and the problem's blown up.
