Got a call from this number earlier today but couldn’t pick up. I rang them back and a bloke with an Indian accent picked up, and there was lots of noise in the background. Honestly, that Jennifer from “HMRC” ringing everyone non-stop has got to be one of the most worn out people working there - if she’s even real! Loads of us just hang up cos it’s obviously a scam (and the genuine HMRC fraud department actually appreciate you reporting stuff like this). Had a call from someone called Francis Wells, who said he was from HMRC - just like others have said here. He reckoned I owed the government £4000 for fraud and said they were going to confiscate all my stuff and that I had to appear in court. What a total scam! My mum got a call from someone pretending to be from "HMRC." They said normally they send letters but now, due to Covid, they were calling to check she was still alive! They accused her of tax fraud and tax evasion, then threatened that if she didn’t pay within half an hour, the police would show up and freeze all her accounts.
