Got a voicemail this morning at 8.40am on 29/10/20, from a lady claiming to be Officer Sally Owens from Inland Revenue. Sounded American. She said I had to ring back straight away or there’d be legal trouble. The number she called from was 020 3992 9989. This was on my personal mobile, and I’m based in the West Midlands. Thinking of reporting it to OFCOM as it seems dodgy.

Got a phone call from someone claiming to be Sally Owens’s coworker. They rattled on about how they’d taken my passport, driving licence, plus every bank and credit card I own. Apparently, if it escalates to court, I’ll be facing a bill of £18,000.00. I asked if they were sure they had the correct person since I don’t even do my own taxes. The bloke said he’d look into it and ring me back. Still waiting... but I’m not holding out much hope.

I got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC saying I’d get into trouble with the law if I didn’t ring them back. When I called, no one picked up. So I reached out to HMRC through their online chat and they said it’s probably a scam because HMRC only ever contacts people from hidden numbers.

Just like many others, I got one of those robocalls pretending to be from the tax office. They said either me or my lawyer needs to ring them back straight away.

Got a voicemail claiming it was from the tax office, told me to ring back urgently and not to ignore it. When I called, they asked if I had a lawyer with me because apparently someones reported me for owing £4000 in tax fraud... 😂 My boss is actually a high court judge, so I just burst out laughing. The woman then warned me not to laugh and said it’s really serious and I’d be arrested! Honestly, if an older person heard that, they’d be terrified, it’s awful! Totally disgraceful behaviour!!
