On the 27th of October around 2:30pm, I received a voicemail supposedly from "hmrc" with a "direct number" 02039236047. When I rang back to check, I requested proof that they were really from HMRC. The person told me to just log in online, but when I insisted on some sort of ID that I could double-check with HMRC, the line was just cut off. This happened again on the morning of 28th October 2020, about 10am.

Got a really nasty phone message where this American lady claimed to be from HMRC, telling me to call back and pay up or else. Honestly, if you weren't alert, you might easily fall for it. But don’t trust these muppets, they’re just looking to rip you off.

Got a voicemail from someone claiming to be the tax office, saying I shouldn’t ignore their message. They also warned that if I don’t get back to them, they’ll get in touch with my lawyer. I haven’t bothered returning the call. It all sounds a bit intimidating to me.
