2 monthsGot a few calls from the same number which I rejected three times. The voicemail mentioned something about Lloyds Bank and a payment they supposedly blocked, plus they said they needed to do a ‘security check’ like loads of other people have said too. I never fall for these calls as banks always warn you not to share any details, and obviously I stick to that rule. Having read the comments on this site, it might be genuine but handing over security details to strangers sounds daft to me - like a recipe for trouble down the line. So, my routine is to ring my bank directly using the number on the back of my card to clear things up. That way, I feel safer cos I’m the one calling, not the other way around. It’s a bit worrying how numbers get cloned or redirected nowadays, so trusting any random call is risky. Maybe digital banking is digging its own grave with all this mess. Oh well! If people can’t handle a bit of banter, maybe they shouldn’t have signed up in the first place?Lloyds Bank2 monthsIt turned out to be that Halifax Bank ringing me up.Halifax Bank3 monthsThis caller seemed quite legit. They were just verifying if I had recently paid Amazon US online, all done through an automated system. They only asked for my birthday to make sure it was really me, never requested any bank info. I usually get calls like this around four times a year.AmazonUS4 monthsbeen getting nonstop calls today, rang for like 2 or 3 minutes straight before it finally stopped. dont recognise the number at all. we usually only pick up calls on our mobiles since all family, mates and work stuff comes through there. never really bother with the landline unless we’re told someone’s gonna ring on that number, not the mobile.4 monthsGot a call from someone claiming to be Halifax, asked me to press any key to continue.Halifax4 monthsI just got a call from 02039096758 saying something about my card being declined. They said they were from Lloyds bank but it felt really fishy, definitely one of those scam calls. Watch out for it!Lloyds6 monthsGot a call today that seemed like Halifax but it was just some dodgy prerecorded message. Sounded super robotic, not a real person at all. Best to just hang up and block those numbers straight away!Halifax6 monthsGot three calls from this number today, they said they were from Halifax but it was some weird robot voice.Halifax7 monthsGot a call from someone pretending to be Lloyds bank saying there was a stopped payment scam. Ignored it, best not to reply to these.Lloyds bank7 monthsGot a call supposedly from Halifax saying they caught a failed payment and needed info from me. I hung up pretty quick and checked my card, not a single transaction was pending. Definitely a scam.Halifax8 monthsGot a call from a dodgy number pretending to be action fraud, said they wanted my dad’s new bank card details. Didn’t trust it at all and ended up blocking the number. Just a heads up, watch out for this scam!8 monthsJust tried to buy something online and my card got declined out of nowhere. So I called Halifax to check, coz the number I got seemed legit. Turns out they had all my details - full name, last four digits of my card and my phone number. Proper freaky!Halifax8 monthsI wouldn’t pick up if I were you, it’s definitely some kind of scam.8 monthsSomebody called me, saying they’d taken money from my Halifax account. They even knew my full name, the last 4 digits of my card, and of course my phone number. Bit worrying if you ask me.Halifax9 monthsI was attempting to complete an online purchase when my bank blocked the transaction, not just once but twice. It was for an upsell on a digital marketing tool, supposedly a one-time offer. Shortly afterwards, I got a call from 02039096758 claiming to be from my bank, mentioning that the payment was blocked twice. They quoted an amount in GBP, even though my payment was meant to be in US dollars, but the GBP figure did seem plausible. They asked me for my date of birth but said they wouldn’t request login details or any passwords. Since the call was well-timed and referred to the exact transaction, I gave them my birth date. They then told me I could try the payment again in about 10 minutes as I wanted to go through with it. After hanging up, I felt a bit uneasy. I usually never share personal info over calls, especially automated ones. So I looked up the number and found out it’s linked to Gamma Telecom Plc. Their site says they’re a legitimate company working with lots of major online firms and even the UK government, which put my mind at rest somewhat. I logged into my bank and checked my transactions; nothing suspicious was showing. Overall, everything seemed legit. I guess my bank might be using Gamma Telecom’s services for these calls. Their website indicates they aim to make business communication more personal and secure, which makes sense. Still, it’s a bit worrying they pretended to be my bank directly, and that the bank apparently permits access to transaction attempts and some personal data.Gamma Telecom PlcUKGamma Telecom9 monthsGot a call from someone acting like they were my bank, telling me to ring a certain number.
