Someone tried ringing me but I didn’t pick up. Just before that I was dealing with a dodgy payment through PayPal, so this call looks fishy. I wouldn’t trust it at all.

Got a call from some automated message claiming there was a failed payment of £800 from my PayPal to Argos. I barely use PayPal and know I don’t owe anything, so I just ended the call. These annoying calls keep coming, and weirdly enough it’s always that same £800 figure. Really tired of it now.

Got a call from this number around half past nine at night, some automated voice told me there was a PayPal payment of more than £900 made from my account. It said if I didn’t authorise it, I should press a button to get urgent support. I just hung up straight away since I don’t even use PayPal haha. Total scam!

This morning I got an email that said it was from Paypal. I contacted Paypal directly and they told me it was a phishing attempt. Later today at 5:42 pm, I had a call from a number claiming to be EE, but I didn’t pick up. After looking into the number, I saw loads of others had reported it too, calling it spam and quite risky. So yeah, I’ve marked it as spam aswell.

I was trying to access my PayPal account when a phone number showed up, saying to call them. I gave it a ring and they immediately asked for the last four digits of my bank account. Then, shockingly, they started telling me how much money was in my PayPal! Luckily, while on the call, I quickly searched the number online and found some warnings, so I ended the call right away, updated my PayPal info, and blocked that number. Be careful, folks!

I called what appeared to be an official PAYPAL number when I needed to turn off 2-step verification after misplacing my phone. It was pricey, especially for a landline call. What really gets me annoyed is how these websites treat cookies - claiming they're "legit" but slapping them on without true consent. Just because someone’s going through the hassle of an unexpected charge or could be dealing with a scam, doesn’t mean they deserve this sneaky rubbish. Watch out, even if you opt out, it doesn’t always stop them from planting cookies anyway.

I rang this number yesterday because I couldn't get into my PayPal through eBay or even my usual link. An Asian lady answered, asking me for all my personal info. I told her I'd already proved who I was since my mobile is linked to the account. She sounded a bit confused and repeated the request. I replied, "Well, that just shows my account’s been compromised," and I ended the call. This number might be official, but I'd steer clear and contact eBay directly (they own PayPal) to sort it out.

Friday evening around 7pm, August 2024, I got a call from 02039017000. When I explained I only use their services online, the same number rang me again soon after. This time, the caller headed straight to PayPal and started asking the typical questions. Yet, their automated message claims their office closes at 6pm. Feels like someone’s faking it using PayPal’s phone number.

Yeh, its the PayPal number alright but loads of scammers have copied it and are ringing from it. Be super cautious if you get a call from it, and if they dont run you through some sort of security questions before discussing anything, just end the call straight away.

Just got my newest BT bill and was stunned by the total. Going through the calls, there was one from 02039017000, a London number, but I’m up here in the north west. I’m sure I never rang it. Seems like a dodgy number to me, probably a scam. They’ve even billed me for a call I didn’t make. I’m pretty sure it’s not from Paypal, just a con.

Might have been PayPal, cos I was almost tricked into sending cash to Tanzania by blokes pretending to be from BT's tech support. Maybe PayPal was just double-checking the payment. I cancelled it just in time and left it pending while I cut off the scammers. Afterwards, I used PayPal's online chat and told them "Don’t go ahead with this." I even had to get in touch with their Xoom department to prove it was a scam.

I recently tried signing up for PayPal, but got confused about whether the debit card info I entered was actually linked to the new account. I found a link to their customer support, which took me to a webpage showing an error message. Below it was just one phone number: 0203 901 7000, plain as day. When I called, the person was really eager to send me some activation emails and then ask for my debit card info over the phone. I ended up hanging up because I wasn’t sure if that error page was genuine or maybe hacked, with scammers putting fake contact details there.

Some bloke rang me pretending to be from Paypal, saying I'd just paid over £600 in Ireland. I told him I wasn’t giving out any personal info over the phone. Then he tried to say he'd sort a refund for me, but I just ended the call. There’s nothing showing on my Paypal for this month, so I’m pretty sure it was a scam.

I’m really confused about this number. When you call it, there’s an automated voice of a man. Then it asks for a 6 digit code, which I never got or had. After calling more than twice, it asks why you’re ringing so much, then you’re connected to people who say they’re in the Philippines, even though the number is meant to be from the UK? The bank told me it’s PayPal, the PayPal site shows PayPal, but the people on the call say the official PayPal number is 0800 358 7911. Can anyone make sense of what this number actually is?

I’ve received a mysterious charge of £8 for a call that I can’t even identify! It’s utterly perplexing how I've been billed for a whole hour and fifteen minutes when I typically never exceed an hour in calls. Sky insists I made the call, but I’m left scratching my head over it all. There seems to be some dodgy business going on with these numbers, maybe they’re somehow skirting around checks. Any advice on how to address this? Cheers, Alan.

Paypal is just one of loads of companies where scammers often fake their phone numbers. If you get a call or message from your bank, paypal, amazon prime, or any company you’ve got an account with, listen to what they’re asking but then hang up straight away. Wait for the line to be free and then ring them back using the number you already have saved. Be careful out there and don’t trust unexpected calls from strangers.

It’s supposedly Paypal but they then send you to some 0900 number that costs loads to call. Paypal’s terrible, I wouldn’t bother with them. If you get a supplier to pay for sending back a faulty product and it goes missing, even if it’s not your fault, they won’t give you your money back.
