Someone called me claiming to be with O2...

Dodgy call, got a warning about it. If you picked up, best to switch your number quick cos they’ve probably got into your phone’s info and are scraping it right now while you’re reading this. In the next couple of days, expect more calls from unknown numbers, and that’s when the real hassle kicks off...

Got a voicemail saying I had to call a certain number straight away because it was from the hmre. Sounds like a total scam to me, definitely don't bother answering.

We get calls from HMRC quite often and were told by them they don't use 0203 numbers at all. This ‘inspector’ Mark Morrison ended up hanging up when he reached someone. Just to mention, this scam was pretty clever - unlucky for them, it was an ex-copper from our team who answered the phone, and even he admitted the scammers knew their stuff, quoting proper case laws and specific sections.

Adding to what I said before, I gave them a ring using a hidden number just now. Naturally, they didn’t answer. Can't really blame them for that.

It honestly seemed like some kind of scam, especially since you'd usually get a letter from HM Revenue & Customs. I didn't even think twice about ringing the number.

Just got a call a minute ago, it was some automated message claiming to be from HMRC, warning me to ring them back immediately or face jail time. I didn't trust it, so I jumped online to check the number and, as expected, it’s a total scam. I’m thinking of ringing them back with my number hidden and messing around for a bit, then giving them a bit of a roasting. What a bunch of muppets.

Got a voicemail from 0203 893 2343 saying it was HMRC and threatening me with legal action. I called back but the person on the line wasn’t genuine. They said they were an officer called Mark Morrison and tried to convince me they’d sent papers to my home. When I asked some questions they couldn’t answer, they just hung up. Definitely a scam, don’t bother getting back to them.
