Avoid calling that number at all costs, it's definitely a scam. They've been ringing me loads and leaving some pretty scary voicemails from different lines. No matter how many times I block them, they just keep popping up with new numbers and don't seem to give up.

they called about some tax avoidance issues, talking about courts, fines, even jail time. really blunt and rude. best to just hang up and ignore!

I called the number back and they didn’t bother verifying who I was; they just assumed I was the person they were trying to scam. They immediately started going on about a supposed tax evasion case and having to appear in court. I warned them I’d contact the official HMRC line myself to sort it out. I’m Asian and, sorry to say, I spotted it was a scam straight away when they said they were from the ‘MRE’. It’s awful to imagine how many unsuspecting folks get caught up in these scams.
