5 yearsReceived a phone call on Saturday morning from someone purporting to be Dean Winchester, claiming to represent Appliance Care 24+. He stated that my washing machine insurance was nearing its expiry. He insisted he needed to update his records since I was a UK customer, but the background noise resembled that of a call centre. I pointed out that he should already have my details, hence confirmation wasn’t necessary, and it sounded suspiciously like a scam. His response was quite brazen: if he already had my name and number, how could it be a scam? When I queried him about when I had purchased my washing machine, he inaccurately stated it was two years ago and that it was a Becko model-both completely wrong, mind you. I requested to speak to a supervisor, only for him to assert that he was both the supervisor and the line manager. As the conversation progressed, he grew increasingly pushy and aggressive. Eventually, I had to cut the call short.Dean WinchesterAppliance CareUKBecko5 yearsReceived a dodgy phone call regarding a supposed tax refund. They insisted that in order to process it, I’d need to verify my credit card information. There’s a chance that there's been a leak of information from the sports centre, as they seemed to have access to quite a bit of personal data. The caller knew my name, exactly like it's stated here - regarding an HMRC refund, whether I’ve been self-employed, and something about PPI! They mentioned that someone would ring me back in about half an hour. They mentioned they could assist me in reclaiming something, though I didn’t catch the details. It all seems rather fishy to me, especially since I can’t fathom how they obtained my number or even knew the child’s name.
