The call blocking is actually handled by my phone company, so it’s pretty clear that this is just a scam attempt. Watch out!

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent offering some sort of call blocking service. He knew my name and even rattled off my address, but the moment I asked for the expiry date on my card, he hung up. I’m pretty sure this was coming from a call centre somewhere in London, so surely UK law should apply no matter where the caller actually is. It’s shocking that these dodgy calls keep happening, probably supported by companies linked to our awful politicians.

I rarely pick up the landline these days unless I’m waiting on an important call from the hospital. Got a ring from this Asian woman asking about some nuisance calls, which was a bit ironic. She tried to get my personal info but I just said no and ended the call sharpish. Honestly, I’m tempted to just bin the landline altogether, it’s mostly just annoying calls at this point.

When asked for my bank card expiry date as proof, I wasn’t convinced it was necessary and questioned their reasoning. The woman was very insistent, but I eventually said no thanks and ended the call once more without sharing any info. I've had multiple calls with similar excuses coming from numbers that look alike.

Got a phone call from a bloke with an Asian accent just now. Seemed quite nice at first. He asked if we were still having those annoying Amazon calls. Then he wanted to check my name and postcode, which he already had. After that, he mentioned something about my direct debit card expiring soon - that’s when I got suspicious. He then asked for the full card number, and I told him straight up I don’t share that sort of info. As soon as I said that, he cut the call.

These scammers try to trick you into giving your bank info. They say they're from the call preference service but they’re totally not. When I asked questions, they got really aggressive and rude. They kept calling back even when I hung up. The call seemed to come from a London number, but I reckon it’s actually from India. They’re definitely breaking the law but seem to be working from outside the UK so it's hard to catch them.

So I asked what the weather was like there, and she said it was cloudy - when in fact, it was a lovely sunny day in London. She got a bit annoyed and just hung up on me. Later, I rang the number back and ended up talking to this guy called Eric in India, who then asked me to email my card info. I managed to keep him chatting for a good 7 minutes just to waste his time.
