Phone number ☎️ 02038742412 👆 is reported as a persistent scam targeting businesses with old phone systems, often pretending to work with Openreach or a telecom firm. Callers claim imminent line disconnection or offer fibre upgrades using official-sounding jargon and pressure tactics. They seek confirmation of company details and hint at grants or discounts, but it’s a ploy to sell expensive VoIP systems. Many users note the scammers hang up when challenged or asked for verification. Calls are usually from UK-based callers, sounding professional and convincing, yet their intentions are deceptive. Recipients report rude behaviour and abrupt hang-ups upon refusal. Overall, it’s a known scam exploiting fibre upgrades and ISDN switchovers, so users should be cautious despite the plausible delivery.

Got a call from a bloke with a proper posh accent, said he was checking if we qualified for funding on a phone system and mentioned working with Openreach. When I told him we only had one phone line, he just ended the call straight away. Sounded legit but don’t trust it!

Got a call from someone saying they was from Openreach, telling me they needed to change my phone line. Sounded dodgy to me.

They rang me a couple of times in about an hour, seemed like there might be an issue with our phone line or something.

Got a dodgy call saying it was immigration, blathering on with all sorts of confusing stuff. Didn’t understand a word and just ended the call straight away.

I got a call from some UK call centre, sounds like they’re trying to find businesses still using old phone stuff, like ISDN or something? They said they could send someone over to switch us to a new VoIP setup. Mentioned something about grants being up for grabs, but I’m pretty sure that’s not true. Feels like they just want to sell you an overpriced system but with a 'discount' to make it seem like a bargain. Total scam in my opinion.

I got a call telling me they’re upgrading all the copper cables in my neighbourhood and it sounded legit at first. But after checking out some other comments, it’s clear how they win you over and then pull off their scam down the line.

Got a call asking me to verify my postcode. I told them I wouldn't share anything until they gave me the name of who they were after and who they were themselves. They mentioned something about Openreach, but I didn’t buy it and said no cheers. Hung up right away and checked online, turns out it was a scam all along! What a bore.

Got a call from someone saying they were part of Smart Connect's ISDN Migration Team. I rang up Smart Connect themselves (they're a real telecom company) and they said they have nothing to do with that call. Seems like a scam to me.

This has got nothing to do with Openreach, it's just scammers trying to fool people.

Like I mentioned before, had some dodgy person claiming to be from Openreach calling me up. They said my business phone line was about to get cut off. The bloke was pretty articulate, which is a shame - seems like he had a good schooling but decided to go down the dishonest route instead.

Got a call saying I have to upgrade my business phone system or they'll disconnect me. They claimed it was some kind of VOIP upgrade. Pretty sure it wasn’t BT though, since I've been using VOIP with them for ages and never heard anything about this. Total scam if you ask me.

They called saying they were from a company working for open reach. The moment I told them the boss would have to be contacted and that it needs to be done via email, they just went and cut the call on me.

Like loads of others have said here, I got a call from a woman claiming she was with Openreach. She wanted me to verify the company postcode, and when I asked why, she got really rude. I didn’t even let her carry on with the rest of her spiel. Seriously, BT, you’ve got to be aware of these fraudsters by now - can’t you do something to stop them?

Some woman phoned saying she was moving our internet and business phone over to some other company because BT supposedly aren’t dealing with them anymore. She was really curt and quite rude, which put me off. I said Id check with BT myself first, and then she just hung up on me!

I told her there’s no fibre optic cable down our street because we don’t even have pavements, and they’d need every homeowner's okay to run it through. I made it clear there’s no chance of switching. Despite me saying it sounded like a scam she was pushing, she kept going with her pitch. Ended up just hanging up on her.

Like a few others mentioned, it sounded pretty legit at first, but then they launched into that whole spiel about switching things over. I just told them no thanks and ended the call.

Received a call claiming to be from BT regarding a government scheme aimed at replacing copper lines with fibre for businesses. I'm a bit sceptical about its authenticity. Not certain whether it’s legitimate or just a ruse.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from a company linked with Openreach, saying they were upgrading the old copper lines to fibre. Seemed quite legit at first, but when I questioned if it was a scam, they just ended the call straight away. Came from a British number too, so watch out for this one!
