It’s definitely some kind of money laundering scheme. They told me to transfer £130 to a manager in Nepal using MoneyGram. £130 ends up being around 16,000 Nepalese rupees.NepalMoneyGram10 yearsDon’t fall for it, it’s a total rip-off! I paid the first fee but I’m still waiting on my money back. Be careful with these lot!10 yearsCan someone please put an end to calls from this number? Its been really annoying and feels like harassment.10 yearsGot a call from a guy with an Indian accent claiming to be from gemloans.co.uk, said his name was Rodrig Prag. He told me my loan for £5000 was approved, with interest around £1500 over 36 months. He said I’d pay about £190 a month, but weirdly there was no email confirmation or anything, it was all on the phone. Then he mentioned I had to make an initial payment of £190 as the first month's instalment - I wasn’t sure but ended up sending it to the bank account he gave me. After that, his “manager” rang, said the loan was ready but I had to pay a £125 tax fee before the money could be released. I said no way, since Rodrig never mentioned this before. Rodrig called again and convinced me to pay the £125, promising the loan would be in my account soon after. I made the payment, he told me it was confirmed and I should see the money in an hour or by the morning max. It’s now been over 3 hours and nothing has shown up. Feeling pretty scammed right now.Rodrig PragRodrig10 yearsJust like the first tale, except I haven’t handed over any cash since I wanted to have a proper look first. Cheers for the warning!10 yearsThey said they could sort me out with a loan, sent the cash into my bank, and asked me to send it over to India. Then on Saturday night, I got mugged for £280. Tried to tell them what happened but all they want now is to take me to court. I was threatened by 10 blokes, all in black with their faces covered, and held at knifepoint. How on earth are they expecting me to repay £140 after that? I had to hand over some dosh just so they wouldn’t hurt me. What kind of business sues someone when they never actually handed over a loan, just because they can't pay back £140? This lot need to be shut down.
