This morning while browsing online, I suddenly got bombarded with a really loud noise, followed by a pop-up saying there was an issue with my Firefox and Windows 10, warning me that if I shut down, I’d lose my data. It also showed a helpline number, 020 3856 7999. I rang it a couple of times, but all I got was a busy tone for over a minute before the call dropped. Feeling uneasy, I called my son who told me it was probably a scam, so I didn’t ring again and closed all my browser tabs. Everything seems fine now, but I’m quite worried I might have been slapped with a huge phone bill for those calls.
