Today, this number rang me. I asked straight away who was calling but got no answer, just silence. After waiting around 10 seconds without a word, I decided to just end the call.

Today, while I was working at the HSBC switchboard, this phone number rang multiple times. Each caller said they were from a company named The Register, trying to deliver a free document to various HSBC employees. I strongly suspect this number is linked to fraudulent activity targeting HSBC Bank PLC. To be clear, the callers aren’t impersonating HSBC staff; instead, it looks like this number is involved directly in scamming HSBC itself.
