A while back, I donated clothes to a BHF charity shop, they’d taken my number for their Christmas raffle. Never said it’d be shared anywhere else though, bit sneaky if you ask me. Bloody annoying!

They were calling from the British Heart Foundation. You really don't have to block the number or be unpleasant to whoever answers. Just politely but firmly say you don't want to receive any more calls from them and they should stop calling you.

A bloke with an English accent called claiming to be from the British Heart Foundation. The phone is actually my wife's, but I picked up. He said he couldn't hear me well and that he'd ring back later. He definitely didn't sound Asian or anything, but still, be wary as these folks seem to be trying their luck with different people. Once he said he was from the British Heart Foundation, I just hung up. I reckon these are dodgy, because I heard him fine but he said he couldn’t. I think he was expecting to talk to my wife, not me. I ignored the call since the number was unknown to me. Regarding what others have said, I’ve also had calls from charities trying to get me to up my monthly gift. As far as I understand, they have to let you know they’re not directly from the charity but work for them, and they get a cut if you agree to pay more. Apparently, the first three years of those extra payments go to the callers, not the charity itself. I could be wrong though, so feel free to correct me. Sorry if that’s the case.

Today I got a call from a man with an Asian accent, who was super certain about my identity. When I asked him who he was, it was like he didn’t even listen properly. I asked again and still no answer. So I went for a third time, a bit annoyed, asking who on earth he was. He finally snapped back saying he was from the British Heart Foundation. I just told him goodbye and ended the call then.
