Heads up, I got a call recently from someone who said they were the council - at least, that’s what they claimed. They sounded legit, mentioning my business address, so I thought it was the council reaching out like I was expecting. I told them straight away about my struggles with the whole council tax and business rates situation, how it’s dragging on forever, and how it’s really taken a toll on my mental health. I even opened up about feeling suicidal before Christmas because of all the stress. But some of the questions they kept asking didn’t sit right with me - nothing the council would be asking. Then I asked again if they really were from the council or maybe the electricity company, and that’s when they just cut off the call. Honestly, I’m left wondering if they decided to back off ‘cause they could tell I was in a bad place. It was weird and a bit upsetting.
