Phone number ☎️ 02038074351 👆 is reported as a persistent HMRC-related scam involving threatening automated calls and messages claiming legal action for unpaid taxes or fraud. Callers often use fabricated names like "Lisa Williamson" or "Kathleen Reed," employ aggressive and deceptive tactics, and end with unusual sign-offs such as "have a blessed day." Victims, especially elderly and vulnerable individuals, are understandably distressed, with some scammers using personal information to heighten fear. Genuine HMRC communications never involve such phone threats or automated messages. Reports overwhelmingly warn against returning calls or sharing personal details. This ongoing nuisance highlights the importance of ignoring suspicious calls, utilising call-blocking services, and verifying tax issues directly with official HMRC contacts. Authorities and service providers are urged to take stronger action to prevent these harmful scams.

27/06/2018. Got a phone call from 02038236850 from someone claiming to be Lisa Williamson at HMRC. They sounded really intimidating, saying I owed money. I checked the number by ringing 1471 and it showed up, but I didn’t call back since it seemed like a scam to me. Pretty sure HMRC wouldn’t handle things like that if you had any debts, and as far as I know, I don’t.

Got one of those recorded messages saying they were from HMRC, warning me to call them back or I'd face legal action. Really upsetting and scary stuff, especially for my elderly relative who got it. This sort of thing needs to be banned fast.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC saying "the person we are calling" and warning me about terrible consequences if I don't ring back, then they ended with "Have a Blessed Day" - seriously, is this the way HMRC really talks now? Just ridiculous! Also, why's this number even allowed to be active? The folks behind this scam should be getting proper legal action, not just left alone.

Got a voicemail saying it was really urgent and I'd face serious trouble if I didn't call back right away. The automated voice claimed to be "officer Lisa" from HMRC and ended with "have a blessed day" !! We only got this number a fortnight ago. Definitely a scam, but my elderly mum had a similar call from a Glasgow number and it really upset her, she thought she’d done something wrong or was involved in fraud. It took ages for her to even pick up the phone again, she was that scared.

Got the exact call earlier today. How come the police or whatever agency can’t trace the number and take the person to court? It’s crazy that nowadays with all the tech we have, these bodies can’t stop this rubbish when the phone number’s there to trace.

Totally with the last person here, the cops are useless and the phone companies really ought to pay anyone caught out by these scams. This sort of thing happens non-stop, people spot these numbers straight away but the so-called authorities just sit on their hands, probably pocketing some tidy sum doing nothing. This country is a complete farce.

Got a call from a woman saying she was Katherine Jacobs from HMRC. When I refused to say my name and cheekily asked her to explain why she was calling, she just ended the call straightaway. I always make sure I’m comfortable the caller is genuine before giving out any details, and this usually helps me avoid loads of scammers.

I received a call from someone named 'Lisa Williams' purporting to be from HMRC, making ominous threats without actually specifying any names. It felt like a dodgy, generic phishing attempt, probably part of some automated dialling scheme, with that typical "anyone listening" spiel. I’m in complete agreement with the sentiments expressed by others regarding the appropriate punishment for these lowlifes-something slow and torturous would be more than deserved. Thankfully, I was the one who answered the phone, rather than my ill wife or my daughter who's disabled.

Definitely not an HMRC person - like others have pointed out. If you’re ever unsure or worried about your tax stuff, just ring the official helpline yourself. Real HMRC callers will always give you their full name, which department they’re from, and where they’re based. Unless you’re expecting a call back from a specific HMRC team, don’t just believe it when someone says 'HMRC' on the phone.

Some one called 'Lisa Williams' saying she was from HMRC and talking about a threat to 'you' without saying any names, obvious mass robocall stuff with a pre-recorded message meant for anyone who picks up and gets scared. I totally agree with others who reckon these scammers deserve a painfully slow legal smackdown.

Like some of the others here, it felt a bit dodgy, especially when the automated voice said it was 'for you' without actually saying my name. They gave me a reference number but no contact number or which department it was from; the message had already started before I even picked up, so no clue who was on the other end. Then it ended with a 'have a blessed day' which isn’t really how we Brits usually say goodbye!

I had a somewhat alarming phone call today that landed in my voicemail. My wife, upon hearing it, became quite upset as it warned ominously that failing to return their call would lead to substantial fees related to a lawsuit-curiously, they didn't even mention anyone's name. It's worth noting that all phone numbers are assigned to service providers oversighted by Ofcom. It stands to reason that these providers ought to be held accountable for ensuring that the companies they give numbers to are legitimate and not a bunch of charlatans.

Had pretty much the same thing happen here. Got a call from this number a few days back, just an automated message, no real person. It left a voicemail on our answerphone. It's definitely one of those scams, and there's no way it’s from HMRC despite what it says. (HMRC ending with 'have a blessed day'? Not a chance!) The tricky bit is folks who might not spot it’s dodgy, like older or more vulnerable people. Plus, the message itself is pretty muffled and hard to catch properly.

Good job I looked it up first. I just got a call from someone claiming to be Officer Lisa Williams, saying I need to call back or I'll be hit with a big lawsuit in my name. She kept saying “this call is for YOU!” about three times. I've got a little bit unpaid to HMRC, so it almost had me worried. These annoying calls from people claiming to be HMRC happen all the time - like every day! Just a heads up, HMRC will never phone you out of the blue; they always send official letters. Most of these callers are just scammers trying to con you. Hope anyone who’s worried sees this and knows not to trust those calls. It's totally a SCAM, stay safe!

Got a recorded call just like the ones mentioned above on 22nd September. The number showed as 02038 074351. The message claimed it was from the department for work and pensions. Clearly a scam, saying there was legal action against us and we needed to get in touch. No way I'm calling back. This kind of thing should be sorted by the police, as it could really scare older folks and vulnerable people might end up getting tricked into giving money.

An automated message told me there was a big legal case against me and this was my final opportunity to sort it out. The way it sounded was a bit intimidating. I felt a huge weight lift off once I realised it was obviously a scam. Cheers to everyone who left comments before, they really helped calm me down!

my mother in law got a call from someone saying they were 'Lisa Williams' on this number today, claiming there’s a lawsuit against her for unpaid taxes linked to her husband who died exactly a year ago. (yeah, exactly 12 months!). seriously, how desperate and cruel can these scumbags get?

I just got a call from this number saying they were from HMRC. They wanted to speak to someone who doesn’t even live here but might’ve had this phone before. When I told them they didn’t live here, they just ended the call. I tried calling back, but they hung up straight away again. Called once more and they were really rude, even started shouting at me.

I received a missed call and upon checking, I noticed a pre-recorded message purportedly from HMRC. It advised me to urgently return the call, as it claimed it was my final opportunity to address a legal issue being brought against me. Quite oddly, the message ended with a rather cheerful wish for a blessed day!

Someone rang saying they were from HMRC, warning that if I didn't call back straight away I'd get huge fines. I went ahead and reported it to the fraud team.

Got a call from a guy calling himself 'Paul Barry', said he was looking for Barbara. Then went on asking for my name. Wouldn't say where he was calling from except that he's in London, claimed he’s been watching me and wants to be my mate and loves me. Bit creepy. I asked who he was with and he just hung up.

Got a recorded call from someone pretending to be from HMRC saying I was facing a serious lawsuit. They asked me to ring back and gave a woman’s name - Lisa Williams - along with a phone number. Definitely a scam!

Got a call on our landline 02038 074351 from someone asking for Mrs Plumb. I told them no one by that name lives here, then they hung up straight away. When my husband called them back and asked who it was, they wouldn’t say and just cut the call again.

Had a really weird and kinda creepy call from someone speaking English like a robot, not their first language I guess. They said their name was "Lisa Williams".

My 93 year old mum got this recorded call saying she’d be in “big trouble” if she didn’t ring back some fake HMRC people. She’s on the TPS list, so I’m gonna report it to both them and the HMRC fraud team. Such a nasty trick on an old lady!

Got a voicemail from someone pretending to be HMRC, claiming there are 5 fraud claims against me and to ring them straight away. Then this bloke with an Indian accent told me I had only 24 hours to cough up some money. They said my pension was too high, over £200 for one month and I needed to pay it back. I said I’d speak to my accountant first and then involve the police, and let them know in no uncertain terms where to shove it. Just lost my husband recently and these scammers are absolute vultures.
