Someone rang saying they were from O2 offering a 40% discount on my phone bill. They asked me to share a code they said they’d send, but turns out this was to hack into my O2 online account by using the security code that pops up when you try to change your password. If I’d given it, they’d have got all my personal info. DO NOT SHARE THAT CODE WITH ANYONE, no matter what the message says. It’s an official O2 code but it’s definitely not for stuff like this call. The caller was definitely a scammer, not O2.

The only thing that popped up was a finance firm called Eman Trading based in the Philippines. Perhaps he was of Filipino descent?

Stay clear of talking with this firm. They’re not actually from O2. I pretended to be clueless just to figure out their con. Basically, they try to break into your O2 account by entering your number on O2’s site to reset your password. That sends a message with a 6-digit code they want you to say out loud, claiming it will give you a 40% discount on your bill. Don’t do that, as once they have the code, they can change your password and see your account info, including your full name, DOB and address, which could lead to even more scams.

They tried to blag me saying they was Carphone Warehouse wanting to upgrade my deal. Bit amusing really cos I ain't got no contract and my phone ain't even from them lot. Still, makes me wonder how they can live with themselves doing this sort of thing.
