Today at around half past nine in the morning, my phone rang from this number but I chose not to pick up.

Got a voicemail with a message telling me to ring this number to stop a payment, but it didn’t say what the payment was for at the start of the message. This number has rung me a couple of times already. Also, there’s been missed calls from a few other strange numbers I don’t know.

These scams rake in millions, it's madness. If you look up 'Action Fraud' on the police.uk site, there's a news section about it. Everyone should be reporting these dodgy calls. Just head to their 'reporting' page to flag anything fishy without needing to sign up. The reason these scam calls and texts keep coming through is because the police don't really grasp how widespread this mess is. Do your bit and make sure you report every suspicious call or message to help build up the police’s evidence.

Got this annoying call today, it’s really putting me off now. I joined Totally Money to get a credit score check, and they needed my phone number for ID reasons. I wasn’t too keen but gave it anyway on their form. Moments later, my phone was bombarded with scam calls just like this one. Got a call from some scammer with a robotic voice claiming to be from PAYPAL, telling me to authorise stopping a £200 payment. First off, PAYPAL never reach out like that, especially not on a work phone. I checked my PAYPAL account straight away and there was nothing suspicious or pending. My work number isn’t even linked to PAYPAL, so it set alarm bells ringing. Now I’m left wondering where they got my work number from - I reckon it’s from LINKEDIN, as that’s the only place it’s publicly visible.
