He tried guessing, first said BT (which isn’t us), then threw out other companies hoping I’d slip up. Claimed he could get me a cheaper landline. I asked him where he was calling from and told him to remove me from his list, then he just hung up. Plus, this number keeps ringing my mobile, but I never pick up.

they wanted to speak to the boss, i told them she was tied up in a meeting and they just cut me off straight away. so impolite, probably just trying to catch anyone naive enough to answer. next time i'll be the one hanging up on them!

Do not even bother picking up these calls. If you do, they just share your number with a bunch of other scammers. The number they use is either fake or bought from dodgy phone companies here in the UK. Most of these calls come from India (0203, 0207, 0208). The TPS can’t do anything about them. Make sure you have caller ID switched on and invest in a call blocker. I use a BT8500 and have blocked all those London-style numbers (luckily I don’t know anyone with those numbers). The rubbish calls have dropped from about 6 a day to maybe 1 or 2 a week, and they’re blocked one at a time.
